how about the facility for people to be able to score a track without writing a large review?
whilst longer reviews will still be given - having the ability to score a track quickly will help give the artist some feedback, rather than see 30-40-50 downloads with no review/no rating.
it would mean a lot more scores per track, and people should be able to see who `scored` their track incase of any `misbehaviour`.
these `quick` ratings would obviously not help the `rater` achieve any entrance to promo songs etc, that only happens for people giving full reviews and so on.
but i think this would be a usefull way for people to get more feedback, rather than see 1 lonely review on a track that has been downloaded many many times!
i would also say that this score does not affect any chart positions etc, so really can just be used for quick feedback to the artist.
and don't say the comments section ace - people don't use that as much as they should either!
theres a thing about `scoring` why do you think hotornot works? |

If I understand right, CTG has bee made only for musicians (I may be wrong but I figure this out because I can’t find any info about this site on front page, faq or sitemap, so anyone who doesn’t make music, doesn’t register here) and because we all make music, most of the time we are too busy to comment anything
We have one same kind of site in Funland, that’s full of people who doesn’t know anything about making music and they only have to give couple lines or none to vote song, so there are too many “This is great”, “This sucks” comments & points 4 between 10. That's something what doesn’t really help me and what I’m interested of.
One reason why I like being here is that I get feedback from another dudes who make music
Well, just my few thoughts, can't get sleep |

One of the reasons I quit in mikseri Never got as much downloads as here or mp3.com.au . . . .
For quick rating my thoughts are ambivalent, dislike that idea since scores aren't important to artists ( at least they shouldn't be ) Too easy |

Instead of a real rating, people could easily give a feedback mark, like "--", "-", "=", "+" or "++", which could both gradually raise or lower the score or be a secondary "rating system".

That's actually a really good idea IMO.

I dont think using such symbols are any different as if we use numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and since we allready have the 1-10 scale i dont think we need another one.
What i think could be added is the "up" and "down" icons which user could pick when adding the comment though im not totaly sure about it since comments are often used not just to mark the song but also for some more general chat.

That's a nice idea if you exclude the artist who made the song of course. Having to choose an icon about your own song would be pointless and iritating.
Anyway... Not bad idea...
