I woke up, and immediately had the impression this would have been a bad day somehow...
Hell I'm sad, tired, I have almost the impression that all the time I've been waiting for 31st december celebrations has been futile... many friends, some entertainment, got to bed at 6am... for what?
Today I suddenly realized once again that too many times we're strongly waiting for something empty... maybe I'm just a bit depressed but it's like I'm understanding life is nothing special most of the times. There are many special ideals like love, friendship, entertainment, passions... but then, when they passes from ideal to material form, it's like they're losing something... I mean, it's great to enjoy a night with friends, or with the girl you love. But then? What does remain the morning after? A memory? A sense of unsatisfiedness (if this word ever exist)? ... can't really explain and undertand well.
I'm not worried. I know I am lunatic and melancholic by nature, but I just wanted to share once again my feelings with you, and read yours.
Yours

Reading this passage again, I suddenly realized that probably what I "fear" most are isolated events, cause they surely leaves something, but do not have the temporal force that can keep on pleasing myself...
i.e. a new year's eve party will become a simple memory as soon as it finishes.. while, instead, a relationship with a girl is something different cause you have memories, but even concrete holds to grab, day after day meetings and so on...
Do I seek repetitiveness in my life? Maybe.. and what's wrong in trying to hold things I like?...

Hmm... I wouldn't call our ideals empty. It's true that everything that is connected with feelings easilly passes by. What you should do then is to get on to another moment of life, that will bring you joy.
The truth is that there's no such thing in human's life that actually makes sense. You can say that whole point of existance doesn't make sense. My dad always says: "Why there is something, if there could have been nothing???". Religion doesn't really help in this case, because you can negate the sense of afterlife, etc.
IMO, the meaning of life is that you can enjoy those passing moments, even if they're so fragile. I had so much fun yesterday/today and I will do everything to make my every day as fun as it was. Otherwise there's not much to do around here, so I could only hang myself.

It's not ideals which are empty, but their materialisation into single events.. cause ideals remain, events passes by.
Anyway you're right about life. My own motto is "Life is a paradox".
And you're father is really a wise man!
"the meaning of life is that you can enjoy those passing moments"
Yeah. But you can't always control life, and feelings...

Yeah, but you can make more of them .

And I think it's quite good as thanks to this there's always something to surprise you, even in yourself. There's always something to do, you can work on your own personality.

Sometimes it's about the moment, not the memories. Sure you could say that you don't feel worse or better today only because you had a great party a week ago or so. But at that night you had fun at the party and enjoyed yourself and that's where party or not party makes the difference. If you can enjoy the moment without thinking about what comes afterwards and if this moment will affect your life at all... then you can call yourself a lucky man coz many good things in life are just short situations or moments.

"W zyciu piekne sa tylko chwile" -> "In life, only moments are beautiful" (a popular song by a band from Poland)
Delux, but memories are a wonderful thing. I had a great time last night and it was worth living till then although sometimes I felt really sad and bad and lost and everything. It was surely worth the "mental hangover" you may experience the morning after. It will pass and you will put the memories among all the nice moments you recall with a smile.
For me, last night was very important, it blended with my inner change I think I've undergone recently (positive one) and even though I have regrets about some things (as always), I'm really happy that finally I truly and carelessly enjoyed the actual moments, which are the essence of a happy life.
For me, last night was also an indication that very nice things actually can happen to me too, which means there's still hope for more of them (maybe even better) - some time. And if there is hope, there is meaning in life. Sounds egoistic, but no matter what your ideals are, it's essential to be ok with your own self. I believe most of the time people are better to others when being happy themselves.
Btw. My new motto (one of them actually hehe) is: "If you've won the lottery, don't think about the sense of lotteries, just do something with the money" If you're already alive, don't think why ppl live, just live as well as you can.
Yours faithfully

"Carpe diem"->"Catch the moment".
That's my other motto. And I can do it.
But not all the time. Not every day.
I mean, "If you're already alive, don't think why ppl live, just live as well as you can".. hell, wonderful and meaningful words but I'm a human being, not a simple animal.
I have Memory, and Intellect: I can travel through past and wonder about future... and "can" isn't a simple possibility, it's sort of forced process.
So, at last, it's just another day.
Tomorrow I'll wake up and have more strength to breathe for the moment, to live every single situation as it was the last, or like it was freed from the adjacent rings of the chain...
I see how there's nothing really strange in what I'm feeling.. it's just the other half of being that shows up, and temporarily takes control.
After all, the man who says to have always the mind clear, lies.
Good night pals.

Seizing the day is a sort of attitude to life which I don't totally associate myself with. I'm for finding happiness in those moments that are beautiful, but life is much more than just having pleasures "here and now", using every little minute of life to the fullest, which is how I understand Carpe Diem.
A while ago, I was very dependent on what I believed to be a sense or lack of sense in life. I had various thoughts, that often led me to depression. I know we have our intellect, that is also why we should learn how to use it. I used it wrong for a long time, now I know it. I was constantly unhappy. Unhappy because good moments ended, happiness was fragile, reality cold, or because I believed my life was for nothing etc etc.
My point is... I think we're not as much supposed to understand life, as to learn to live it. Sort of. Oh well. Just another bunch of thoughts.
Oh, and I agree, we're always under some influences, we're either happy and positive, optimistic and vigorous, or we're down, sad etc. Actually I don't think there is a way to objectively decide when the mind is "clear"
Yours faithfully
