This is the only artist I was a real fan of. I found a tribute page and left there a message which I post below. I can't find this page now, although it all happened a couple of weeks ago.
My tribute message:
I was a big fan of Scatman John's music. When I first saw his Scatman's World video, heard the music, I was like shocked or something. My classmate gave me a tape and it was one of those rare times when you rush home from school to listen to your fav music. My best friend who was also in the same class with me started listening to Scatman too, we were both fans. I listened to Scatman for two or three years in a row, I have two albums. Dunno if it's true he released a third album in 1999, but I heard his new song over the radio which wasn't in the second album. I said that I was a fan of his music, because I absolutely didn't know anything about him. I had no INet at that time. Today I managed to find a couple of interviews with him. Anyway, he was the only musician that I was actually a big fan of. I am not a stutterer, but I loved working with my pronounciation, to achieve the syllable repeat effect. It is real hard, you know, it really improved my pronounciation, before that I was speaking as if I got water in my mouth.
When I heard he died, I wasn't listening to his music for a while and the news was so sad, but it just passed by. Today, when I was searching for him in the INet because of no particular reason, I put his records on and became very sad. Scatman is a big period of my life. Now when I know there is no more John Larkin, it is sad. But it is the truth and I don't want to be too sad about his death because he wouldn't want that. As he said "We got to believe in love, That's what there ever will be..."
I'd like to say my big thanks to Scatman John. His music, his great albums and his great hat on the microphone really made me happy when I was a school kid. I wish your music won't be forgotten, man! Let it be played on the radio often!

hehe scatman! i have only one single with him "scatman's world" from 95. he is indeed very funny and his songs not more i think

Well I know only one song by him, and I think the title is just "Scatman" I think. Indeed a classic one that certainly not will be forgotten...

Nice tribute Louigi! 
First the Robert Miles topic, now Scatman John  I also have the first album and my brother has "Everybody Jam", which I think was the second one. I know back then the first release "Scatman" didn't hit me as much but "Scatman's World" was one of my all time favourites. I just loooved it and always got goosebumps when the second verse started, that "Everbody's born to compete as he chooses..."-part  When I listen today I think his best track is "Lebanon" from the second album. It's really great
It's really a shame he died  But at least in his last years he could earn some fame and create music to remember him by  I always found the thought of compensating a speech impediment with music pretty fascinating

I liked his songs, but honestly don't know a lot of him. I do know he was great, and only heared of his dead several months ago, anyone knows what was the cause?
whas he ill, or anything else?
I liked his songs, he was up in our charts at the time here in Holland, but that's all I now of his work.

He died of lung cancer. Well, you can find his bio in the internet. but what's significant is that he became popular when he was 53 years old! He died when he was 57.
