Maybe there should be possibility to rate a track without reviewing it cause for example sometimes i'm too lazy to review a track although i would give it 10/10. So artists would have a little more feedback maybe.
Edit: damn ppl have written about it already , i'm too lazy to even read others topics....shame on me! |

Yeah, this comes up frequently
Just I dont understand how track could be described with score. Numbers are dummies, artist doesn't benefit it and scores would just be between 7 and 10. That's seen in many sites already.
Could someone explain why rating is SOOO important??? |

for sure there would be not only ratings between 7 and 10- for me is problem that I can't review a track which I totally dislike but I would probably rate it showing what I thought about it, and for sure I would download a track with 100 ppl rated with 10 |

It's so that people that only download songs can get a quick idea how popular a song is without relying solely on the word of one or two reviewers focusing on the technical aspects of the song. In the reviews however, the rating is completely useless. |

I don't agree with you. Rating is the summary of review.
But I don't understand one thing - admins gives you one of the best music scenes on internet and you have something to the rating system, which imho is the best I ever seen..
Rating without reviewing is the worst thing you can give to the people, and if you don't understand it, then check up sites like mp3.com, when anyone can delete cookies and rate again - and of course ratings are almost only 1 and 10. And where is the point?
Cheers

I completely disagree with this. Rating a song without writing a review? Definitely not!
If you give somebody a low rating, where's the constructive criticism? How are they supposed to know what you found wrong with their track? How do they know what they could improve to get a higher rating?
At the other end of the scale... I've downloaded loads of tracks from CTG with high ratings, only to be grossly disappointed. I reckon this would just get even worse if people could rate songs with no comments.
At least with some of these highly-rated songs, you can read the comments and try somehow to understand why the reviewer thought the song was worth a 9 or a 10. It can be very helpful to know what points other reviewers look for - knowing what they liked/disliked about each track. It could just be that it just happened to be in their favourite style.

I see such feature as a "support for laizyness" since i think it would be mostly used by people who dont want to take their time and review the song.
Also it would again reduce the number of reviews further more since now even someone who did take time to review might now rather just pick the rating without any useful feedback for the artist.
On the otherside such feature is allready possible since you can simply write your number in the comment box and i see quite some people are doing this allready.

the whole point is to average the ratings, you can't do this in comments.
How about there are two separate ratings, the average of reviews (which are used in charts etc) and just the other one, where anyone can put a vote. |
