Ok, here we go.
The (in)famous "Asia CD" compo is gonna start.
Here are the rules, divided in 3 chapters.
[Entry rules]
If you want to compete, compose a song (see below for rules), and follow these steps to have it into the compo:
- Upload it to CTG
- Send me a PM with the link of the song, specifying "Asia Entry" in the subject.
- Deadline for submitting is 03/april/2005, 23:59 GMT+1
[Song rules]
- Any strong melodical genre (classical, ambient, pop, even dance IF you can make really a beautiful melodic dance track)
- Remember the theme of this compo: don't send happy hardcore, for example...
- Maximum length: 7 minutes
- Format: mp3, ogg or wma
- You can submit up to 2 entries
- We're now accepting any melodic song (ambient, classical, melodic dance etc.) from ANY date.
This means that if you created a song after the tsunami accident, you can submit it even if you didn't released it before.
This even means that you can submit songs older than the tsunami accident itself, if you feel they are somehow related to this tragedy.
BUT, this does NOT mean that any song will be ACCEPTED, nor that every song will have the same priority over the rest: i.e. an oldest clubby song will lose a tie with a younger classical track.
[Judging rules]
- The jury (me + max 3 other artists -> check below to see how to join the jury) will listen to all the entries, and give them 4 rates (Originality, Melody, Feeling, Quality) each.
The mean between those rates will result in The Personal Rate for the song, and the mean between the 4 judges' ratings will be the "Global Score" of the song.
- After all the entries are submitted, the public voting session is opened aswell: registered artists will be able to post their favourite three entries, only ONE time per artist (no multiple voting).
- How public vote influences the "Global score" of the song?
For each vote received, a song has a bonus of + 0.1... this means more votes, the higher the score (which can become higher than 10, but who cares, it's the same thing)
- Public voting will take place between 04/april/2005 - 08/april/2005
During the public votes session, the judges will cast their votes, and then send them to me via PM.
I'll calculate all the scores and then, hoepefully, publish them around the 10/april/2005.
The first 10 songs (or to a maximum of 70 minutes) will enter the special "Asia compilation"

Want to spend a little of your time into this compo? Sign in as a judge!
You will have to listen to the entries and give them rates (not to review them though), not a hard work but still requires a bit of time, so if you want to do it anyway, just PM me.

Please do not suggest anything that it's not fastest to integrate, cause we don't really have much time...

Okay, let me get this straight, the trick is to write an Asian-themed track with those rules?
(I also believe that April is too early, considering today is the 22nd of March, and that I write roughly a minute a week... 
Considering my lineage, I might take part if I can find the time... give me some and I might give something back.

I've got a dark orchestral song i just finished, but it's kinda short (3.23). It's... dunno if it would fit on the Asia theme, but it does remind me some "the last samouaï" battle.

Could you give some more information regarding the final product (the CD), as your post don't say much about it.
Also, is there a minimum length on songs, or do we have artistic freedom up to the 7 minute limit (which I understand is there to give space to more songs on the CD)?
And, finally, you should clarify the subject a little, before people start making songs about Asian fauna or whatever.

VP: many people already made the song.. I know it's a bit short as a deadline but we can't stress this anymore...

Delux, I changed the topic so that it says it's about the Tsunami.
About the deadline, you're right, but even though it was supposed to be held long ago, I guess some people need some time since this announcement, because they don't have anything yet. On the contrary, it is a possible to make a song till 03 April I believe, if you find the inspiration. I will try myself.

Does this mean we can still participate with a song already made for this topic? It´s just because I did already and have it already added here on ctg.
