I definently believe in ghosts, since I've seen them multiple times myself, most scary was when a knife, by itself thrusted itself into a wooden cutting board in the kitchen.
I was totally alone at home, was going to cut up some salad, took out the knife and a cutting board, turned around to get something, and heard the knife make a sound behind me, turned around again, and saw the knife, trust deeply into it (couldn't get it out myself, my dad had to BREAK the board in half to get the knife out), needless to say I ran for my life that day, never was alone at home after that (until we moved). Alot of ghost activities happend there I heard later on.

That's incredible, I've never heard such a ... concrete ghost story as that, I mean, leaving evidence behind and actually seeing a physical knife moving of its own volition, O.O! I personally voted "No" but I wouldn't have if I were /you/ lol! Good story, thanx

Just google for the word "ghost stories" and you'll hear about alot more things
which are a shitload scarier than what happend to me.
EDIT: here are some links to some stories which are ... scary.
http://theshadowlands.net/ghost/story1.htm
The first story which is written by Dave Juliano, tells of the sighting of small black
impish like creatures that run on all fours. This is highly disturbing to me since my
father has described seeing creatures like this from time to time when I was a kid.
(muahah maybe it was ME he saw? )

Indeed, there are numerous of ghosts stories. But there are also alot of stories about UFO's, and if they exists is kind of similar to people believing in ghosts.
With this statement, I merelly mean to say: not every story has to be true. Sometimes people can be hallucinating because of medicens or they can just make it up to impress.
That doesnt change the fact that I do believe in ghosts.
To return to the subject about the existance of ghosts...
If ghosts doesn't exist, then how are we able to move and think? I know that motorfunctional controls are made possible by our brains, but our brain only issues brainwaves. Is it a coïncidence that these brainwaves behave naturally, and what about our conciousness? Why can we live through a moment? Or do we only think we do?
I still believe we have a soal (spirit) whitin us that allows perception and response.
Lets say: we drive a car. Would the car think it is alive, or would the car know we drive it?

Well, your so called brain waves, or bio-electric impulses, control everything. From motor control to farting (okay, so farting is motor control, so lets say, memory management) it's all done through the brain and the spine (strangely the spine is a second central nervous system).
I'm no neurologist, I don't know crap all about biology, but if want to put forth your own somewhat groundless ideas without any particular coupling with known fact, go right ahead.
I'm not saying that life isn't special, because it is. I just don't like the way people prescribe ideas to it because they lack the inclination to do any proper research. And I'm not saying that we know the answer is known either, because it isn't. Hence, research.
If you want to know what I mean by that, look at the last half-hour of the modern remake of Joan of Arc.

If something hasn't been officially announced as discovered and proven, there is room for beliefs. If it has been announced as discovered, you either believe it's really been discovered or doubt it.
Our conscience, "Self" is still a mystery, so here's an idea: let those who believe in soul believe in soul and let those who believe in no soul believe in no soul. And let scientist seek for the deepest of truths. Be a scientist if you will; but not being a scientist doesn't mean you can't have your thoughts, does it?
I trust science most of the time, but I'm against treating it like an almighty god. When digging a hole in the ground, you don't always reach those hot fluids, lava and shit inside Earth, and if though it's supposed to be hot down there, your hole in Earth is cold. I treat scientifical discoveries as an interesting, but not fully relevant subject when we are talking about gods, beliefs and meanings of life. Get a shovel and prove me that Earth is hot and fluid inside.
As for ghosts, it's also a matter of fantasy. Imagination. If you think there _could_ be ghosts, and it is not yet proven that's definitely impossible, your fantasy and interest in this kind of mysteries turn on.
Another thing: like in the case of God, everything boils down to one major thing: do you prefer the thought there ARE ghosts, or that there AREN'T any? Then, it's either necessary to prove one or the other.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Existent until proven otherwise or inexistent until proven otherwise?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's a rhetorical question, because everybody can answer it in their own minds like they want; anyone can make any personal assumption they want. |

Can I just say that the laws of physics are WRONG!! Yes, they are proved wrong all the time.. they are a set of laws and ideas based upon another idea, which helps explain why something works..
I beleive in souls, I have experienced lots of 'strange' things, and I beleive it all to have meaning in purpose in a "non-scientific" way...
Science, in my opinion, only ascertains the concerns of the physical world... and because thats where we are, thats all we can try to attempt a grasp of...
thats what I believe, nobody else can tell me Im wrong, I dont care what they think... we gain understanding through experience... and this is what I have learnt.

In my opinion fear is the most common reason for most beliefs. |
