It's funny to see the same suggestions appear now and then. I made the same suggestion in this topic http://www.ctgmusic.com/topic.php?id=3598
The difference is that no one listens to it when it comes from me
And DDspeed, do you recognize these words;
I agree, it's too small, but I really don't care anymore. When I write my reviews I use a text-editor, which is actually much more powerfl and comfortable, and you can save your work to finish it later etc. Then you paste the review and voila.

Yeah... Now I'm too lazy to run gVim to write a review

If you write here, you are not able to recover the text if the computer crashes. But in a text editor you can save now and then...
Well, well... The new box looks good anyhow. A few months since I suggested it, guess it was worth the wait
Not so funny signature. |

I think there's a possibly important issue concerning reviews on CTG:
As you know, we are kind of trying to be ambitious here and keep a good level of reviews. So we report short and quick ones and tell the poor newcomers to edit like 2348985 reviews because they aren't in-depth enough, or the rating isn't justified enough. I can imagine how frustrating it can be for someone who just signed up and wanted to be nice and write reviews.
What may be confusing, is the inconstistency there is on CTG right now: at every possible occasion (even at track download, in popup) there are messages like "please review", in spam topics everybody says "review others first". What is always underlined is: just sit and review, everybody can do it and it's easy. The review box is on the songpage and it's small, which suggests itself that you just come to the songpage, write several words, hit submit and bang - that's it, 5 minutes and done.
But then, we start to yell at those people: your review is short, not thought over, rating isn't justified. How the heck would I know I can't write a quick-blitzreview if I have a tiny textarea right on a songpage (that makes it easier to write something quickly) and when I'm under pressure of the "review-rush"?
Don't you think it is a little problematic? I mean, not for us, old members, but for new ppl?

Imho that's no problem. It's just like on forum - newbie can't enter there like djre... ehh doesn't matter . Everybody is learning to write reviews, they should do it too, so I think that review box should be displayed by clicking on some button on songpage, then you should be able to see the review rules, and by clicking "agree" you can start to write it.
But it could be more complicate, and review number per month could decrease a little.
Yep, this topic need more opinions...
Cheers

How about making a "standard review" template available? Just one click and the review box fills itself with categories/titles, so that the reviewer only has to write something concerning that title. That's a good way to ensure that a review is complete and lengthy enough. Opinions?

nahh.. then it would be to comfy to write 3428984 reviews. And they would all be brother-reviews... or sister
