Before i put an older album out of print by removing it, i was making a decent income from an album on cafepress.
now I only sell my music in local shops, and give it free online.
I make my money from photography mostly, so no, not really these days does music keep my lights on  |

Yes, there are proffessional artists here. The point is, that the tracks that those release aren't online Just the songs that they can't get onto vinyl

this specific website prohibits publishing of non-free music. But other sites allow musicians to sell their music like Cafepress (that djRedSkull mentioned).
Most professional musicians make money by composing for computer games, films or t.v, I guess. And the rest by selling CDs through a record label, or releasing by themselves and performing.
I guess if musicians like us could have a service like Itunes, of pay-per-download, we could all make some income out of it.

I make money out of live jazz gigs, composing for motion-picture, custom tracks, and whatnot. But I still release my tracks for free on the Internet.

I think i made a dollar or something at mp3.com when it was still running, and some dollars at something called ampcast?
I think making music on online downloadable music is starting to take a new direction, allthough i'm not ready too fully ignore the labels yet |
