Why is Amiga confused with C64 here?

C64 and Amiga had totally differend sound chips, that worked in totally different way. If you're searching for Amiga sounds you can just use old 8-bit samples in a tracker. Amiga had no really individual sound, it's the C64 that had this synth built-in.

Yeah, just get all those .mod files from modarchive, they're mostly made on Amiga I guess. :)
:)

Yeah, but I would like the sounds in higher quality and resolution. :reasonguy:
Ahwell. It's the usual stuff for me. Reinventing the wheel all over again. hehee

Most "Amiga" leads were sampled synths, so just get some late 80's synths and sample them in higher quality.

Yeah. But what kind of synthesis? Where they subtracitve synth's? I'm into software synths so I need to find an equivalent software synth capable of bringing out those nice smooth leads, nice vibrato strings and arpeggios. Hopefully synth1 can do some of those things.

The Amiga soundchip "Paula" is just an 8 bit sampler.
So it´s not possible to find the true Amiga sound.

Better ask for the typical sound of an Amiga-musician.

Many of the most known and most used leadsounds were sampeled by "Lizardking".
He used an Roland JD 800 with extensive use of flanger and filters afaik.

Another well known Amiga-artist is "Jogeir Liliedahl".
He often used sampled sounds from a Korg Wavestation EX.
Nowadays those sounds can be created with the Korg Legacy VSTI.

"Tip and Mantronix" were also very well known in the good old days of Amiga.
They used a Roland D50 for their sounds.

But some of the most known Amiga instruments are the ones from the ST-00
Sampledisks from 1987 od 1988. I think they were created by the author of the
first tracker ever: "Karsten Obarski" (Soundtracker)
Many of em were created with a Yamaha DX7.
You can use the FM7 VSTI from Native Instruments to emulate a DX7.

I created most of my sounds on Amiga with a softsynth
developed by "The Twins" and me:

SAM - Sample Synthesizer (482 hits)
It´s going to be a very big hit!

Vibrato and arpeggio are just effects so I guess that's more of a sequencing issue. As for software synths, perhaps Korg Legacy Collection could be something for you. I don't really know what kind of synthesis was used back then, but a wild guess would be FM with a hint of AM. Possibly some wavetables?

Yeah, I like LizardKings sound.

But now I'm looking for more like the chiptune sounds (Makton), songs from the game Superfrog, James Pond. Captain's song 'Space Debris' also have some kick ass samples.

I might aswell mention those here. :) Hopefully someone know which synthesis they were made on and how to convert it to a softsynth equivalent. :)

*claps my hands*

IIRC, Allister Brimble made the music for Superfrog. He also sampled a lot of sounds for the MED sample cd. Perhaps that's something for you?

Chip samples you can make by looping one period of any waveform.

It seems like a great inspiration resource however I'm looking for free options. :) Thanks a bunch anyway! Good to know who made the excellent music to that excellent game. :D
