I once tried sonar for 2 hours...
Didn't managed to get even a pip out of it...
Not to do a song it it then...
..or was that the old Logic?!
Cubase SX 1 was nice.... but with SX 2 and 3 they overdid themselves a bit...
I'd need a second keyboard if i was trying to bind all the buttons with shortcuts(permutations taken ito account )

| Dont have a lot of experience from Sonar but basing to that its even more messy than Cubase ( wich is a lot). Gotta admit that C is really powerful app if you can stand all 1000 windows needed and generally are ready to tweak latencies with midi/vst tracks .... |

Ok, on the ridge to off topic, but concerning why Cubase suck. Ever heard of TABS before Steinberg? No, we have hundreds of separate windows occupying the project. Cubase is like a mix of many small programs. No care has been taken to make a good workflow and integrate the functions. It's all a big mess and messy buttons everywhere.
Do you feel better now, 1up?
Hell yeah!

I've never seen them in action, but voted for "both suck" anyway .
Piano roll sucks itself, so apps using it must suck too.

I think a piano roll is good for getting a quick overview of the notes played in that track. With trackers, that doesn't work as easily with patterns. Not that anyone would probably see much use in that, but whenever I mix tracks produced in Reason, the fact that I can look at the piano roll to find out which notes are played in each track makes things go that much faster.
