I am always influenced by something. Say, today I'm influenced by programming in C++ and I really wanna do that. Tomorrow or a couple of days later I think C++ isn't that interesting anymore and I wanna do some music. The rest seems boring and dull. Then I want to do a game, then write a book and so on. But all of these things require a lot of patience and time. Once you want to write a book, you have to spend days, weeks, months to write it. You start doing that, but then the inspiration goes away after a couple of days. But you have to go on, right? Otherwise you won't complete anything if you jump from desire to desire. You got to write a book and make it interesting and have fun writing it, 'cause if you just force yourself, the book will turn out boring.
So I thought - this habit of being influenced by many things and jumping from one interest to another - what is it? Bustling? And how do I fight it? I am a little bit tired of that. Maybe I'm too keen on what I want? The world is not what you want, it's what it is. I mean, people learn to play piano, they learn programming, write albums, books and so on - I mean, do things that need a lot of time. How do they do that? Why can't I do that? What are your thoughts about it?

you got too many hobbies. well, what else could anyone suggest than try to concentrate on one thing at a time, finish it before starting a new project. or then just spend a day writing a book and the next day programming etc, like it seems to be now. i got the same problem but i think it's just normal. one day i might spend learning new guitar technic and the other day i'm more interested in playing the pipes etc etc.

Humans tend to get bored too quickly. Only when they acknowledge how much work there is in front of them, they lose interest. We are a bored and lazy culture, and we're getting used to things being "automatic".

Such an answer won't satisfy a thinking person and you understand that. There is a lot of examples when people have achieved great things. I just want to understand - how.

Well for the things I have achieved... yes, it all started with inspiration. And with the thought that I won't start anything else until I finish what I've started. When I start a song, I work daily and spend every free hour on the song, until it is ready. I don't start another song, nor do I start programming, nor anything else. It's like a choice I make.

Some people work on inspiration others don't. You work on inspiration. I do too to a large degree. (I have written poetry, started writing a fantasy book with a freind (we got 100 A4 pages or so), written music, very interested in photography, had a texas hold'em rush a few weeks ago now I'm bored with it).
So you're not alone. As with everything to get something done there will always be barriers of boredom to get past. Studying for exams is a good example.
I think you should use it to your advantage. Beeing interested in many things is a great asset. Focusing on just one thing at a time is hard so try to go to the next best thing when you get bored. For example, let's say you have 3 fun projects in the areas of writing book, making music and programming. Try to spend your time on one of those. If you get bored, switch, but try to stick with and finish an old project.
Some times, when the inspiration fades away quickly, the idea maybe isn't so good so it is worth completing. Do you know what I mean? You inner voice says you that it isn't worth spending more time on. But for the projects when you feel an inner urge to complete whatever the barriers of boredom you have to face, you know it's important to you and you will get them done and finished. At least that's a bit of how I work.
Hope that is useful in some way.

Thats just what I feel, that's why I haven't finished a song in over 2 years! Apart from that my musical taste seems to change every 2 weeks; once it is only electronic music, then only rock, then its whatever.. and since I usually need a couple of weeks to make a song I always wanna start something new before I'm even close to finishing anything, and I start to hate all my previous work.. it sucks

I'm the same too. I probably used to work on inspiration to a degree, but now I thrive more on ambition and a crazy idea that I can do it.
In fact, since I'm in that mood, I'm going to curtail the rest of this post and give it a go.
