Played piano a few times filling in for other people, but I still suck Also I've always sung on choirs, and I'm touring in EU this summer with the choir I'm on right now
Music speaks
It saved me from insanity
It gave me grace in motion

Oh yeah, I played a lot. At the music school I attended we had lots of open concerts, where I played piano. I hated that. I loved playing piano, but I couldnt stand, when I had to go to the stage, alone, everyone looked at me, and I could not make mistake.
On the secondary school we had a school band, we played blues and soft rock, but you know that story (it is Venus). We had quite a few gigs, bigger, smaller. I played piano and was vocalist. On the drunk days I was the bass guitarist.
We also had a jazz-rock band, it was very sophisticated music, actually that much, that we could not remember the songs when we played them. We had one or two gigs only, cause of that There i was a combination of a live pianist and sequenced backsounds.

Time for another Gopher topic.
Okay, just out of sheer curiousity, how many people here have played an acoustic instrument in a band?
What instrument did you play, and what kind of music did your band perform?
Also, if you have, recount some of the more memorable gigs?
On the record, I've never been in a band, but in my piano days (about 5 years ago now :O ) I did some small concert performances. Nothing major. Most memorable was the one in the church which had the strangest piano which had proper worn down ivory keys and every note was out by a few cents. A very... colourful... performance

I did some piano accompanying for some other music students at college, and played as part of a jazz improvisation group at lunchtimes.
Played keyboard/organ with a couple of mates a few times at school talent nights etc. but that's not really acoustic so doesn't count!
Other than that... I was once supposed to have a summer job at uni playing piano as early-evening entertainment at a Chicago Rock Cafe, but the job, pay and hours sucked so I only ever did 2 nights.

Perfect music sounds sterile and dead."
