How do you make money as a musician these days? We're have all more or less come from the demo scene and the computer science area, pretty far away from the general consumer of music.
So which ways to making money or a living if you will at music are there for us these days?
Examples:
* Offer music for free and use google ads and donations to get money on the table
* Offer music for use in commercials etc.
* Selling the music in online stores
Have you succeeded or failed with any method? Please share the wisdom.

Blue Hand have a something like success. We r in progressing contact with one of record labels.I think its a small success, but record deal is close.
How I did it?I send a link with music.Thats all.The most important thing for manager of this record label, was ctg popularity and hughe database of awesome revievs. At now we r still on pop/commertial way by non-commertial music.Thats cool, I think.
Also, I think that Your examples are quite good.
Keep it up!

Its just a question of being in the right place at the right time.
But therein lies the problem.
I know some very skilled musicians/producers who make a nice living out of music via film/TV/Live playing etc. , but also, I am very aware of some half arsed bastards who have no right what-so-ever to call themselves even remotely creative, that make huge sums of money from the same thing, but with half the training and a quarter of the talent.
Eeeeee. The wonders of modern technology, eh? |

good examples of this: Doriath/Feralcode (hey, some of his stuff is sold @ audiojelly.com! Quote: "Being poor sucks" (Futurama) )
Whirloop (ever wondered why he has only 1 song? )
and I guess there's more. Like TSEC/Lagoona Y'know what I mean.
And don't forget to live |
