After reading on about how some people have cheated in
the charts, and then reading on about how it's not the first time it's happend,
I'm proposing the creation of a list of names of these people.
Something similar to the rippers list over at the modarchive.
I'm so very tired of this bullshit that's been going around lately, this list
might prove to have a deterring effect because if they mess up,
everyone is going to know about it!
Now the question of course is "Whom would decide which names go on that list then?"
Well, since the only unbiased person here would be acecream himself
it should only be edited by him and him only.
This would be the CTG's version of a punishment for their crimes.

Did that rippers list ever stop rippers from ripping? No.
Me, for one, would want to be on that list for the same reason
people use the current charts: fun and a good laugh.
Such measures won't stop the bullshitting, it will only consume valuable
webtime/space so we all know who not to review. And so even more
manipulation takes place, "unnatural reviewing" as this chartcheater
might very well BE the genius his friends or IP suggest he is.

I agree totally.
Like criminals are registered in police archive.
Even though it may not stop people from doing the same things again, it will at least be shown that we take those things in a serious way.

Only if you can track the ripper's real name and vague location.

I don't like this idea. Tainting people in public is sooooo medieval...

| No, i'm going to vote against. Staff knows them, that's enough. No need to put up a disgrace pole for a virtual freaks whose probably only real link to real is IP. That'd be kinda grotesque to see interest against them........ |

You can have your own friends here at ctg. But one thing is to tell them to open up a fake account and rate you high, and finally to disappear, and another thing is that they try to be part of the community, share music, give feedback to other artists and then as a friend, rate you high.
Sooner or later the dishonest ones are caught. So there is no need to humiliate them more in the whole community, it's enough that staff knows about it. IP matching is very easy. We are not bad people, we want to stay friendly but honest.

well, I've downloaded a song once from TIS, and found out on TMA, that the song was really ripped..
So I deleted the song from me harddrive and downloaded the orignal, since the song wasn't that bad
Sometimes the list DOES work I guess.
It took a while, but : It's a new release! (3501 hits) |
