Analysis: Did you even care to read my last post? This is not a discussion thread about sound quality. The music format in this game is going to be .xm and .it and I'm not going to compromise with neither the musical OR sound quality in this game. If you or anyone else believe it's impossible, I'm not interested of knowing.

hmmmz... I'm sorry If I pissed you off.. I really wasn't talking about the game in my post... Sorry. I'm glad that you aren't going to sacrifice the quality and I'm sure you can make the game as awesome as the previous 2 were. (although you dont seem to care about that )
It took a while, but : It's a new release! (3499 hits) |

Wether you like it or not, it's never fair to compare things that can't compete with each other. How can an old module compete with a new Renoise one utilizing all the newest techniques? That's simply NOT fair, don't you understand it?

Look if I choose to put music on, then I'd rather put the best music on that there is, then some old crappy beatles sounding stuff. I know I must be pissing everyone off here, but I just have opportunity to pick the stuff that sounds the best.
I'm not going to look what's most fair to compare to eachother, or which one uses the oldest technics. All that matters if the final result and it happens to be that 90% of the XM's and IT's are worse then then renoise and other stuff that we make nowadays.
HOw can a old XM compete with a new renoise song you ask? Well, only if elwood or awesome made it, that's how. I know it's not fair... but that wasn't the question.

Well, even Awesome's tracks are of lo quality, you must admit it. But now that you mentioned awesome, it's the COMPOSITION that made you say it. That is, no matter how crappy it sounds, if the song is good, then it's worth giving it a listen and including it in a game. So I fully support Nifflas with including XMs. Why pay attention to the file format? Pay attention to the music behind it. Besides, an XM file is loads lighter than a mp3 for an online game.

I also think Awesome does music which sounds low quality. But that's going to be different in this game. I aim at much higher quality sound as well.
But you're thinking too much of "songs" right now. This music of this game is more like atmospheres than songs, some "songs" might only contain some rhythmic stuff and noise (with stereo width of course), and no melodic instruments whatsoever.
Everything that's not possible to do with a tracker - a melodic orchestral song with super nice samples, EQ'ing and reverbs for example - we will not do. The music will be adjusted to something which can sound (as in sound quality) great tracked. A lot of minimalism. Nothing that musically can be compared with neither Awesome or Elwood.
That way, I don't think any sound quality has to be sacrifised just because we use xm's or it's.
Fortunately, my music is much more interesting than my posts. |
