I recently posted in a thread Cadatta made regarding his name change, and
I told him to go back to his birth given name, then a question formed inside me:
Why does everyone in the scene use a handle instead of their own name?
for me it's simple, I wanted to make people go "WTF?!?!" when they
saw something I'd made, basically to react to what was expressed so to speak.

See my artist poll. 
It was quite popular in the scene back then, almost everyone used some handle, I wanted one too.  Now I don't like it very much any more, but people in the net know me as Cooth, so it might be a little confusing to suddenly change it. But I think I will, some day. |

my real name is far to common - and there are alot of famous people who already use my real name.
psy-ko is just my board name - its not what i release my music under, infact i should probally change ctg board name to my production name, as i'll hopfully have some releases on ctg soon

Because my real name is too long and not catchy enough to be easily remembered, which is a point if people should be able to more easily remember who one is.
I do always use my real name in the id tags though, but in combination with my handle. Perhaps this means that, after some time, the people who regularly listen to my music, all four of them, will be so familiar with my real name that I can stop using my handle. Time will show.
