I'm lookin to fork out on some new software to make music and was wondering which particular programs would be recommended? I've seen a few, like fruity loops and reason but dont know which to pick.
cheers

But really....
I personally find Reason's interface to be easier to work with than Fruity.... but somebody will come behind me and say the opposite I'm sure.
Every program will be just as hard to learn from start, and the end results will be up to you and not the program.
Main differences:
Fruity uses VSTi's which are used by many other programs and are abundant.
Reason is cooler. |

I'm no great instrumental player, but I like to write my music and have great overview of what I'm doing. Then Renoise is the best
Edit: Renoise is also the best trackerprogram! |

hmmz, well, cubase, logic, renoise, buzz.... one of those I'd suggest. You pick yourself, since they all of advantages and disadvantages.
I dont like FL though.
It took a while, but : It's a new release! (3537 hits) |

Fruityloops (FL Studio) is the bomb in my personaly opinoin, i also have reason 3, and its a brilliant software, but imo again i would choose fruityloops over it anyday becuase its just more fun, easier and lets me be as creative as i want, in the end it depends on the person, everyone has differnet tastes!

CUBASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you don't use Cubase you cant be L33t and get pro omfgwtf!!!111oneoneone sound!
Just kiddin....
Use pro tools, heard that all signed music uses it for its making...
Just kiddin..... again
Truth it, you can get good resoults with almost anything on today market that use VST(and some even that don't), if you listen carefully and enjoy what you do. So...
"demo" all the stuff, then pick yourself on what you are most confortable with.

Choose whatever and stick to it.
I'm using Renoise and loving it. I think that the fact htat it's nto a mainstream program gives it an edge; I won't sound like everybody else!
I've contemplated long and hard about moving to cubase/reason. but u know what, i'd rather stick to renoise, instead of hopping from program to program and never really mastering anything.
my tip for you - download different works made with different programs. that way, u can have an idea of what the program is capable of. Some artists here iwll write what program they use, if not, just ask.
