Alright, here I am again, tired as shit about the multitude of crap reviews which
are being submitted lately. This time around, I'm just putting out a list
of the ten most noticed faults I've seen when I've been reporting reviews on CTG.
|
*TOP TEN THINGS YOU SHOULD NOT DO WHEN WRITING A REVIEW* |
10. If your english is crap, don't go "my english sucks" in the review,
we already know that when we read it. Try instead to write a good
review as possible with the skills in english that you DO have,
if you have a point, try to get it across as well as possible.
9. Don't write alot of random comments which have no connection at all
with the song in question. Things like "my mothers cat sounds just like your
song when she takes a crap" doesn't belong in a review, they belong in the
comments column.
8. Never ever refer to yourself in a review in any way, this means
things like "I usually make beats this way etc" or "listen to my music plz!"
or the most hated of all self-references:
7. Never drag your opinions regarding a certain program into the review
either, I've seen too many reviewers go "it sounds tracked" or
"this sounds like reason" or "it sounds fruity loopish, which sucks"
This just proves that you're an elitist fanboy of a certain program.
It also proves that you're biased, which means you shouldn't review songs.
6. Never beg for reviews in return, you write reviews to critisize a persons
work. You aren't writing them to get reviews in return. If you are, you're
not unbiased and you shouldn't write reviews in the first place.
5. Never just throw together a list of incoherent comments, structure
your review instead! it makes it easier on both the reviewer (you)
and the musician and listener.
4. Never refer to any previous reviews as they are possibly subject
to be removed, I've seen some reviews that go "yeah I agree with
reviwer XYZ regarding the bassdrum" .. if the review made by XYZ
was removed, or altered, it doesn't make any sense!
3. NEVER WRITE A REVIEW ENTIERLY IN CAPS, BECAUSE IT'S
FUCKING ANNOYING.
2. Never write a long long long list of comments which you haven't
properly ended with enough punctuation and instead you're just
being really annoying as shit because this isn't easy to read at all
and basically just makes one want to bang their head against the
keyboard they're in front of.
(I've been guilty of this offense on a number of occasions myself.)
1. Never write a short review.
So, this is essentially what I wanted to get off my chest, I know that
some people will most likely be offended by this list. So without
further ado: Go forth Eorlings ..errr.. I mean CTGings, and flame me!

Wow, I should read this first before writing my first review on CTGmusic. I will try to keep this in my head for the next time. Thanks for this. |

I think John exaggerated with "in any way", but he's actually right in his examples: review is no place for self-promotion. |
