It's all just good fun, and a nice way to get known for those lucky ones who get chosen. That is, unless other people start whining about it in the AOTM threads.

Then to side issues:
John Marwin wrote on 05 Nov. (0:55) :
Make the AOTM an award selected by the people (namely us non-admins) so that we can feel like we're congratulating a person we chose, not a person who someone else choses for us to congratulate. |
So you could run in the small untolerant circle you like here, by granting your friends who do so called 'intelligent music' to aotm? Sorry to be rude but it wont work at all, we haven't enough active member base for it. Someone tries to cheat and staff has to watch yet another inappropiate issue on site, IP's of voters (or let it just be). Dont forget you can affect it whne you download, comment, review.....all this affects to monthly top artists chart where aotm is chosen.
Most bad thing to interactivity would afterall be the miss of these conversations. Even there's been said rude and lame issues, there's been good points and constructive discussion. Aotm should not be the top of the box but a creditable person who does good job with his/her music and is honest and kind person. Somehow things have gone far wrong if you consider otherwise |
Now this is the main problem of todays CTG, it lacks interaction!
With your logic, we'd be stripped of reviewing aswell, since it's a known fact
that it's a possibility for that to be cheated with aswell.
And forget the charts, because as we all know, it's easy to cheat to get to the top
of those aswell!
And if you can cheat by doing reviews and downloads and whatnot, you could
with your logic STILL cheat to get someone AOTM, albeit it would take a bit more
time and dedication (and skill) but it's very much managable.
However since you've said it stays the way it is, alright, your choice as an admin.
But don't think for one second that the award for AOTM carries any validity with me
nor anyone else who thinks they too should have a say..
Things like this make CTG loose it's credibility as a community you know?

100% respected. Yes im in two minds but all credit re: your last post which, at last, comes across genuine and peaceful... Apart from the bit about me having a big career path in trance because in my honest opinion, i dont as i put forward in my interview... just a record in a big club will suffice!
So fair play to you for that, hopefully we've seen the last of the hostile approach eh? Cheers

in your eyes maybe...
but not in mine!
and if you want the people too choose, make a poll then with the most qualified artists and then see who wins... and quit making such a damn big deal out of every singel thing!
again, grats AD!

I've gotten a message from Randor, and I think I understand where he's coming from a bit better now. All polls require maintenance and sadly enough checking for cheats.
This isn't an easy task it seems, and since the CTG staff is already strained as it is, this poll would be the straw that broke the camels back.
It's apparently very easy to cheat on the regular polls on forums and pages, so a poll would probably quickly be messed up by cheaters....
So, it isn't possible today to implement a true artist of the month award based on what the people think, because cheaters would ruin it. (to all cheaters: you bloody suck!)
But, as I wrote to Randor, perhaps this award should be renamed into something which more accurately describes it's purpose? calling it artist of the month seems a bit offkey here. Perhaps "staff's favourite of the month" would be more fitting.

We can always talk about the name, for me its good as its now
About rest, its true that we can't handle more work atm, especially when it comes to coding. Upcoming updates and new stuff will keep our coder busy for a while. Naturally we could recruit new staff, but when bureau grows, things will jam. I'd like to keep adminstration as thin as possible.
For Oceanseeker *raises hat* I honestly respect your statement!!! |

This brings my mind on the voting system of the Christmas Compo 2004. That was not just an ordinary poll, it worked a lot better. Topic |

Uhm, may I remind everyone that we've had 19 artists of the month and that there were like 3 or 4 people who had a problem with only a few choices and everybody else thought the titles were deserved?
