I'd like to bring up an older suggestion, as I stated for the first time here in Ethelions older topic.
The suggestion was just like; Right now everyone have to click a lot of links to reach the Unreviewed Songs section. There could be an automated clickable link with BOLD text on the frontpage for instance (so everyone will notice it easier.)

Someone make a decent banner and I'll replace Yannick's MadTracker Compo 2005 one with it. Big enough?

what are the width and length of that banner and in what format do you want to have it?

I think you are taking the idea abit to far.
I belive the number of non reviewed songs itself is not that important, it can be 340 or 987 or 1400. At the end its just a number.
What is more important here is that new songs get enough attention, that they get atleast 1 review which will make "new songs" list look much more dynamic and promising for those who might add their music since it will bring back the feeling that every song gets the attention.
So i would rather concentrate in promoting new songs and reviewing in general.
In a way where we try to encourage and motivate artists to review songs becouse they can then expect to get similar attention in return and not becouse they would want to reduce a number.

well, isn't reducing the number getting the same result as your idea? I agree that the average interested on a song should be good, but then again, some songs just aren't promoted, and aren't good.. and it's only normal that those dont get an extremely amount of attention..
Besides, We need something that replaces that banner.. So why not promote something that we need for our own site?

Im not against of doing the reviewing promotion. I just dislike the idea of how we tend to present the problem. I think we should do it in different way then just by exposing the number of non reviewed songs. I belive that generaly to motivate people we need more then just a counter which is reducing. There should be some new way of rewarding most active reviewers (need to sleep over to get some new ideas what we could offer to them).

You might be right. Actually AiA's comment turned me off a bit.

But that philosphy is immediately broken because old songs will be forgotten. So if one adds a song and even though it gets promoted, it didn't get a review. Now the only chance for him is to spam the hell out of us with the song, or readd this same song. IMO even new songs gets pretty much attention, but with my (and a couple of others in the past) initiatives lately the one year old songs also do.
