cdnalsi has submitted a beautiful tune, however, it has violations of the rules, since it got chords and a bassline and even a third instrument. Please keep in mind that I will ask you to change your tune in case of violation. I have already contacted Cdnalsi about the matter.
The rules are simple, guys. One voice melody and the other instrument only shows chords. Only showing chords is simply playing a chord, not creating a bassline!

Dear everyone!
In the future, if this compo goes well and we'll go for a second round, I will remove the rule of a second instrument denoting chords, since it's not that essential and only makes things puzzled. So it will be just a one voice melody!
However, for this round, let the rules be as they are - after all, I had to try out the idea and how it works.

LPChip has found nice simple words to describe rules:
One monotome melody with a possibility of using one 2nd voice for long notes to attenue chords.

Alright!
We've got quite some entries now. Of course, most of them show that we, in our majority, are very dependent on production! But this is a great challenge and I'm happy when people tell me that they suffer having only one voice to play with! That's good. Let this suffering push us in the new direction!
Of course, some entries violate the rules a bit, but since it's the first launch of OVC, I think that's ok. Later entries, made by great guys from Modplug, are strictly with rules and you can listen to them as an example. Also - these tunes do inspire to produce a one voice tune of your own.
Remember - 1 March is the deadline.
And also - you can submit several entries, so at least try to take part.

An issue popped up at modplug forums. I copy the message here.

What I understand from the rules, is that you can only have one note from a second instrument to denote the chord |
Chords cannot be shown with a single note!!! Chord are several notes played at the same time!!!
Your melody should be 1 voice, but your second instrument that merely shows chord changes, of course can play several notes at the same time!
Ugh... I dunno... I thought the rules were simple to get, but I quess I did something wrong... Maybe couldn't find better words...
First instr: main melody, 1 voice.
Second instr: shows chords, can play many notes at a time. Just make sure it's not a subtheme of some sort, but just shows chords.

I've uploaded my entry. You can see what I meant by the rules of the compo. Violin plays 1 voice melody, piano shows chord changes.
