In all of us there's things that hold us back musicwise. It may be budget constraints, time constraints, or specific needs like certain instruments lacking, skills, etc.
Let's share our main holdbacks, so we can help each other out and unlock our hidden potential!
My need:
My mouth is watering from the prospect of having real brass or very good brass sampled sound in my songs.

I miss cool smooth sounding filters to increase detail and add more unusual twists in the sounds I create.
VSTs seem to come closer and closer, but I feel like a little bit of extra hardware to do the trick, would really help.
Also with renoise and all the VST usage, I kill my P4 3,2ghz CPU from time to time (100% cpu usage ftl) , making me unable to add more elements to a track, as playback is becomming choppy and unlistenable if I open up every channel. (and rendering a wave each time I want to listen takes forever )
Oh yeah, and I drink too much beer when creating sounds / tracking. Which can be helpful with creativity, as well as holding me quite back in getting what I want or get it done faster. |

If you've got money, you can always buy the Yamaha electronic violin . It's got no resonance box.

I want to learn to play an instrument well. Without that I always feel that there are certain boundaries, which don't let me go forward. I will probably start learning to play recorder in a week or two. Already bought one - Yamaha YRS-23, for beginners.
