Would it be possible to make the clickable smilies go right where the typing cursor is?
for example:
I make a post, then I come back to edit (for whatever reason). The edit contains both my post and my signature in one big editing box (as opposed to the write-reply which has 2 boxes). Okay, I edit, and suddenly I wanna insert a smilie. I click it and it's placed way down after my signature, at the end of the whole text.
So?

Learn to live with what? I just found your answer wrong for a webmaster, especially on a public site like this. Sorry if sounded unfriendly. |

You are right, mate. But it bugs me too. On firefox the smileys and tags are inserted on the end, but on Internet Explorer they are inserted on the right place. I have no idea why this happens. I could use some help on that matter.

Uhm, then youll have to code this stuff so it'll fit to firefox and other explorers?
I really dont know about these kind of things tho so I might be talking bullshit
but telling someone to use IE, haha, its like telling someone to go throw their computers in a vulcano. no lie.

Well, I can say by my own experience that certain things can not be done with certain browsers. I don't know if you can create a script that in firefox detects where the cursor is, and if you can't, it's even theoretically impossible to implent the feature in FF (no matter how much IE sucks and firefox doesn't)
But of course, since I'm not good with javascript, I don't know if that is the case. It could also be possible that the ctg code isn't the best.
Someone who knows more about javascript should let us know

It's often very strange that some simple JS stuff doesn't work on FF, while a mail client written in JS does.
Writing a script that detects the mouse position in Firefox definately is possible. Once someone posted a game in JS that did it. And it worked fine.

But that would mean a lot of extra effort, for such a small thing. I agree, it's a "nice to have" feature... so noted
