Well, you should have two actually. |
No, actually. Don't have your e-mail. These things may get messy - you know, mail services aren't 100% reliable, so CTGers can simply PM me.

Im wondering if there is any set criterea in judging the entries. Or is it just a pleasing melody?
Would there be points for creativity, quirkiness, structure and so on.
I hate to ask, but its not on the FAQ you see

Don't hate to ask if it's not in the FAQ.
The judges will look into everything you mentioned above. Development of the melody, the pleasantness, the structure. Some simple foolish melodies may be pleasant, but not a serious composing work, some may be serious, but with no charm. Try to combine. Have some good composers in mnd - like Bach. A highly advanced composer, whose melodies are both complex and pleasant. (and they won't sound much worse if you play them as one voice melodies, like the Joke)

does eg. an organsolo with only one note pressed down at a time be considered as a melody? if so, I'm in. I think at least playing arpeggios isn't allowed, even if it was done live.
EDIT
nevermind, got the courage to read through the faq

Note: Of course, you can use Jxx effect to show chords. The FAQ issue on arpeggios was about the lead melody. However, again - the chord picture has to be static - play a chord only in places where the chord changes.
Why should it be static? Why these limitations? Because, if you put your melody to notes and mention chords above, like on an example picture on the OVC site homepage, all your chord structure will be lost anyway. And this pic of a musical score shows the exact format of the OVC entry.

Blah. never mind. I keep getting upset about everything now - well, post 15 - getting some nasty novus tracking tutorial vibes.
Anyways, please remove my song from the compo. I love the concept of the compo (one voice melody), but I don't like this particular one. I improve so much more from the slightly unserious spirit of the one hour compos. |
