I would also like to point out that by throwing your music onto this site, you've effectivly put it in the public domain right?
Anyhow, I too wouldn't mind it one bit.
(then again, i'd love to see how anyone would manage streaming a module file onto radio hehehehe )

Not to be pedantic or anything (alright alright, I AM being pedantic :o) but throwing it on this site doesn't mean it's in the public domain, in the legal sense. You still retain copyright (whereas being in the PD means no-one has retained copyright or IP); it's just that you've agreed that the site and people using the site have a right to copy your music (or something along those lines).

Well, I assumed naturally that if you would upload something onto a public forum, such as this one, without any mention of copyright, that you'd make no claim as to wether or not your work was copyrighted...
Which is of course why this nonsense should be stopped goddamnit!

The demonstrable fact that nobody CARES about your copyright once you upload something you've created doesn't mean that it doesn't EXIST. You still have all the legal rights to your music that you'd care to retain, empty and symbolic though they may be.

I'm having trouble figuring out how you could have been a participant in this thread and still believe that. In short, there is absolutely no need to "mention" any copyright. The typical "(c) John Marwin" type message is implied for every single original work you produce, whatever it may be.
I don't follow your logic....If I don't mention a copyright, I wouldn't make a claim as to whether or not my work is copyrighted?
Speak for yourself, man.

Stating that your product is copyrighted is important, because so many people are unsure and confused about those rules, that if no rules or copyright information is written, they think that everything is allowed.
But reality is the opposite way around though, just like Sonus said. As soon as you create something, it is automatically copyrighted to you, even if you don't mention a single word about it.
There's no need to take away rights from people by saying "it can not be used for this or that" - since the work is copyrighted to you, they never had those rights in the first place anyway. You can only give people rights by saying "you may do this and that".
But it can be very wise to do all those unnessecary stuff, specifying both what people may and may not do - because it's obvious that a lot of people have no clue how copyright stuff works. It's for them I write "Copyright (C) 2006, Nicklas Nygren; All other copyrights are respective of their individual owners; All rights reserved." in my game, despite that there's no legal reason for me to write that at all. I'm just stating things that would still be true, even if I didn't write it - the question is: Would everybody understand it?

My music is lisenced under the terms of Creative Commons lisence. The one allowing non-commercial use and redistribution of my work. CC rules as far as lisencing goes. It's popular and simple.
