Yes, well this is indeed a problem. I'm now on a crappy W98 with IE 5.5 and most of the avatars are 1px - including mine, which at home on Windows XP and Firefox displays nicely and there's no problem with the others.
Is this a problem which occurs only with W98 or IE? Is there anything to be done about it?

Remember that IE 5.5 has some really nasty problems with css. Most websites nowdays are not actually created such old versions of IE in mind... There's no reason to be THAT much backward compatible
edit: Now when I think about it though, the avatars img tags is like width="" height="" which looks extremely wrong to me. Either you specify a width and height, or you don't have the width and height settings there at all... but I've never seen them left empty like that.

I think this is because of the php glitch in the artist settings xTr1m mentioned...

Okay guys, Yannick fixed the server problem, and I restored back the old functionality of the artist's settings page. Notice that this was a temporary solution, and it served its purpose. Else the artist's settings page wouldnt have worked at all.

Now some avatars (for example Louigi's) have width and height set to 1 instead to no value. Is that because Louigi didn't set the optimize crap in artist settings?

No. My gif is already optimized. (I did it myself when creating it.) Just the glitch made some avatars 1x1 size and before setting it back to it's right dimensions wasn't succesful. Now it's working - as you see, I just went to Settings and corrected it.
