Okay then, let's take Cubase. When you record MIDI, it's the same bars, same piano roll. Don't tell me you use the Score editor to write your music in Cubase. Because its score editor is quite crap IMFHO. And not to mention Fruity.

Who said anything about scores? I write my music too using tracker, and it's far from that stuff. Please, do some investigations before discussing any further ;)

And your point is ... ?
To write music in a tracker STILL have nothing to do with scorewriting...

the debate was about Cubase's score editor. :badday:

Did you discuss with yourself?
Also, you first quoted keith303's statement """not to forget the piano-roll sequencer.
i don't wanna draw my music, i wanna write it"""
He didn't discuss cubase, he discussed trackers vs sequencers.
And actually he criticized the pianoroll, not the score-editor.. :wall:

If you didn't argued against the quote (still you quoted it to confuse me), then my wrong.

No I didn't discuss it with myself :eyes:
I was just replying to Xtatic's statement.

It seems you haven't been reading these last few pages.. :badass:

What?!?! I'm referring to this:

keith303 wrote on 20 Apr. (17:03) :
but reason only fills about 40% of my horizontal monitor width and wants to be scrolled vertically - which is odd already.

You can always detach the sequencer from the devices ;)

another thing which cripples it, is the lack of support for external audio interfaces like VST.

It's true, but I don't think it cripples it. The combinations and the workability of the devices is uncanny. Of course it's much easier to load a bunch of VSTIs and start writing. It's much harder to load up some oscillators and create your own sound.

not to forget the piano-roll sequencer.
i don't wanna draw my music, i wanna write it

Like I said. I don't like the red bars either, but I've come to avoid them by playing with my piano all the stuff I need.

Okay then, let's take Cubase. When you record MIDI, it's the same bars, same piano roll. Don't tell me you use the Score editor to write your music in Cubase. Because its score editor is quite crap IMFHO. And not to mention Fruity.

But in the end, it all resumes to which program you feel confortable with, isn't it?

And with the statements towards the end I thought you were connecting score editing with trackers, that's all... And this was before Xtatic's comment so it can't be that.

The Cubase Scorer needs to be setup for general notation before use..

And yeah, I agree, its pointless.. unless you write music in notation anyway..

But eh..

Ive never used it!

I still track depending upon what a particular instrument sound I'm going for requires. For a quick example, slow gliss sounds are very hard for me to manipulate in other ways, or glitchy retriggers, or tremor effects. So I'll pop a section into MPT, edit it, and then pop it back.
