Hi,

I've just started using Cubase SX (after using FL for a long time) and there's something I can't seem to figure out.

How do I link a VST effect to a MIDI channel (running a VST Instrument), and how do edit events for this effect?

At one point I thought I figured it out... that was nice thought, but of course I didn't hehe :?: . Anyway, if you can help me, please do so.

Thanks,

YourMainMan

Either you can bringup "mixer 2", find the channel and hit the tiny "e" button on the channel to bring up effects, or mix it down to audio(file>Export> manu) and add effects using the effect inserts on the left panel on the main screen.
Hope this helps. :)

Thanks for your response chokai, but I'm afraid it didn't help me much. See the thing is, when I click on the 'e' for the MIDI channel, I get a strange list of effects in both the 'Inserts' and the 'Sends' list (located in this folder: Steinberg Cubase SX 3 presets), but when I click on the 'e' next to the VST loaded onto the MIDI channel, I get a different list of effects, the VST ones (located in this folder: Steinberg Cubase SX 3 Vstplugins). Now the problem isn't linking the VST effects to the VST instrument, I already figured that out, the problem is editing the VST effects in my MIDI channel, for example increasing the feedback on a flanger while the MIDI channel is being played...

So if anyone can help me out with this, please do so, I would very much appreciate it. Thanks again chokai!

Ah, i see, in that case you need to check the VSTi to find out which controllers efect what in the VSTi, then add a controller lane to the MIDI channel. I have the same prob, but to get around it i record my movements and changes live using the read/write automation.

If anyone knows a good way to get controllers working on a channel so they can be manipulated without using read/write automation I would be gratefull to find out too!
