Ok I know this topic has probably been mentioned countless times..
But im curious how everyone makes their bass?
See, I dont have a bass guitar. How I record bass is by playing it on my electric guitar, and then pitch shifting it a couple of octaves down and EQing it to hell!!
What does everyone else do?? Im interested cos I cant seem to get a nice bassy sound on my current work-in-progress tune..

It may sound silly, but I just take bass samples and put the notes into the piano roll. Works quite fine!

A sine/triangle synth works nicely in a pinch. Or perhaps a saw wave with lots of lp24 riltering stuck on it. Failing that, just grab some samples and load 'em up in a piano roll, like manwithimpossiblenametospell said.

Thanks for the tips. Bear in mind tho that I mainly do rock stuff, so like a nice deep, realistc sounding bass if possible! Or maybe im being too fussy... i dunno!

I have some wonderful realistic bass soundfonts. I can share them with you, but let's continue with PMs.

I step-record all my basslines the good olg tracker way. As for the sounds, I have about 3 samples I usually use for basslines, all of them are always heavilly porcessed, so they sound different every time.
One of them is a sample of a synth from Buzz, which I pitch down a few octaves, it worked very nice with a few lp filters and distortions in "Skyscraper".
