Yeah, how long does it take for you to judge a song? _Listen_ || or move on to the next || so to speak.
For me? A couple of seconds really...

Several times, generally.
Since I know some bands as Tool (who often need more than one listening to properly enter in the song). I pay attention to the details as much as possible.
Anyway, there is some songs which don't need this, and which I know I'll love them since the first seconds to the end.
So, depends on the music. |

Good question....
I,myself, can generate a personal opinion about a song from just listening 10 seconds of it...
In this way I decide wether I like it or not...and then look for details

Yeah, as McBohemian says, I think we all employ different techniques to listening to new songs. I'm a "skipper" . First listens for say 10 seconds, then start skipping looking for interesting stuff. If not found, well, go to next song.
Obviously, a song with a faster tempo is easier to like or dismiss than a slow moving one.

10 minutes for a quick executive summary; 20 minutes if I don't know what I'm looking for. I can judge myself in about 5 listens of a tune and usually the same goes for most other tracks too. The part that takes the longest is noting it all down. This depends in the level of critique I'm levelling at the track.

The couple first seconds are the most important for me.. If the song sounds bad after the few first seconds, I jump to the middle of the song and listen a few seconds from there. If it still sounds bad.. well, shift+delete is a nice feature.

I can usually tell if I'm going to hate a song within a few seconds, but to determine whether I'm going to love a song takes a long time...
