I've just tried out the new and improved firefox 2, and I must say that this new version will break many, if not all of your extensions you've accumulated.
At first, it told me that my extensions were incompatible and that they were disabled,
so naturally I installed the nightly builds tester to try them all out enabled... BIG mistake!
My tabs stopped working, my themes got all screwed up and surfing was a great deal slower overall on all the sites I visited, so really boys and girls, I must warn you of the new firefox.. because he's gotten old and grumpy

Well, since 6 of my totally 18 extensions were broken and my favourite themes also failed to work properly, I really wouldn't be having the same firefox as I have now if I upgraded, and I suspect that alot of users out there will be reluctant to let go of some of the more neat extensions such as tab mix plus for instance. (which basically gives you an incredible amount of control over how your tabs work)
Edit: also, now from what I read, they're going to implement a blocklist which will automatically disable all extensions that are potentially unsafe or that may make firefox unstable, and that might be exploited to attack firefox.
I also read that this means that you'll have to go and hack your firefox to display certain extensions that are deemed to be "incompatible" (hacking means about:config) .. yeah, the first thing they can start disabling is the firefox core, because we all know that it has a memory leak the size of a trailer truck.
Goddamn how disappointed I am with this turn of events, they're actually turning against the very people that made firefox what it is, the extension and theme developers!

Nope, apparently they're not updated yet, and probably won't be either... guess I'll be stuck with this version for a while until I find some suitable replacement browser.

In my opinion, I think it's time I started searching for a suitable replacement instead since this whole new policy regarding extensions can get pretty damned nasty.
Plus who knows if these extensions will be supported in the next version of firefox, which could potentially break even more extensions thus reducing the functionality even more.
So, instead of treating the symptoms, I'm trying to fight the problem at it's source: firefox 2.0.
Also, from what I've seen on tests everywhere, opera seems to be faster in nearly all aspects, and it supports all standards way better than firefox does.... so I'm going to give that browser a new tryout this week and see if it can be customized to my liking...

I've been converted to Opera, keep a copy of Firefox handy though, since some site s don't work in Opera.
I used to think I had a very refined sense of humour, and that's why people never laughed at my jokes. Now I've realized that I'm just not funny.
