Hey there people, and sorry for the long absence. I just had to get something of my chest, and yes.. you can call me "captain obvious":
Ratings:
An overall review rating consists of the ratings from persons that have reviewed a song, and their individual opinions.
Downgrading a review because you think a song deserves less praise, is as bad as writing a poorly constructed review. The same goes for upgrading. If you see a song that has a rating of 8, and you personally think that piece deserves a 6, you can't rate your review with a 4 to try to force the average rating down. That's just childish. It also means that you deliberately ruin the effect of other peoples opinions, and that's very egosentric and narcissistic.
Instead, just write what you mean in words, like "I don't think this song deserves the high ratings it's been getting", and explain why you have this opinion. When it comes to the rating itself, give the song the rating you would have if you had been the first one to review it. Be objective, ignore other reviews.. they are not there for you, but for the artists.
If you can do this, the average review rating will actually have meaning to it.

People don't necessarily do it like this. But subconsciously you may want to put a slightly lower rating because someone else has put this crappy tune a 9. Keeping in mind slammy's post is a good idea for everyone.

I agree too. A reviewer should put a rating that he thinks the song deserves. If you think the song deserves a 6, but has gotten an 8, giving a 4 would be wrong and dishonest. If a low score such as 4 is not well argued with words in the review, then such a review should be reported.

Unfortunately, there are people out there that do this.
I have also seen cases where someone forces the rating up, rating a given song a 10 instead of an 8, just to raise the ratings.
This isn't something I imagine in my head, trust me.. I've had long mail conversations with people who do this on purpose, and that have admitted to it as well.
I can understand why people do it, I just don't agree with their methods.
