Cubase 4 the new version, I just wondered if anyone knows whether the basic version "Cubase 4 Studio" the one that costs about £150, can this do Realtime time stretching?

In the past the cheaper versions haven't been able to do it. I know on this version it says something like this but I am just wondering if it is the same thing and can do it?

I also just wonder what software sequencer everyone in here uses? Would you recommend anything else instead of Cubase? Like Abelton, Sonar or Acid etc?

I am hoping to get a new sequencer in the next two months.

Cheers

John

Uh, what are you gonna do with a new sequencer when you already have cubase? Cubase is compaitable enough. Changing to sonar doesnt make sense..
And I dont know if the studio version do timestretch as opposed to advanced version, why dont you mail cubase staff support, or google it? FL can do timestretching so if you dont need to do it often, you can just use FL as a sidesequencer to do this. Also, Acid can probably do this, altho I cant say for certain.

Yeah the version of Cubase I have is VST 3.5 it is from about 6 years ago or something like that. It can't do the realtime time stretching I need, and I definitely need to get a new sequencer.

I will email Cubase and see what they say about this.

huh.. why do you need timestreching inside a sequencer? You can do some timestretching in cooledit/soundforge right?
Sometimes you've just got to try bizarre combinations. It could turn out to be quite decent. (932 hits)

i wouldn't bother with cubase 4 as of yet, wait a few months for them to fix some of the bugs - i'd either get cubase SL or SX for the time being :)
