I tried it and it seems very simple. Well, at least to people who are used to level editors like StarEdit or WorldEdit from Blizzard which are even more complex.

Well, it all depends :) Anyone can easily download the Knytt source (and the required platform extension), and create their own map in it, that's super easy. However, the hard part is the programming. If you want to create your own enemies or power-ups, you might need a bit more skill.
