Please the only what I ask is that ctg doesn't end as acidplanet...there the reviews are really pathetic and without any value for the artist, just things as "you did it man", "this song rocks", "you're the best my friend". All the world just flatter each other.
|
man, if you listened a bad tune, would u review it " this sucks, do not download" or would u just click away. i have a feeling that ctg-ers review or comment songs that are worth their effort.

Could you to clear your point... maybe you just didn't get my point...
Music changes hearts and minds. It goes where words cannot always get to.

Do you think changing the criteria of how to get on the Promo songs page will help? Like instead of seven reviews (of any quality). How about 4 reviews of 800 words or more? I think the more words usually brings in better quality, and a more attainable number of reviews might encourage people to try for more.
As an aside: For the people who are knocking the reviews, it's really hard to write good ones. I'm not good at producing a good mix, and don't know a lot of the terms, but I know when something sounds off and I all I can say is it's muddy or too bright, etc... It's difficult to draw from a common lexicon when I don't know most of the terms. I hope my feedback is appreciated, and I do the best I can, but I'm not going to stop because my reviewing skills are in need of improvement (as my mixing). |

I agree, not everyone has the same knowledge. I find this a very grey area. Surely this is a very subjective thing for people to do. We all have our own acquired taste. To mark a song down because I don't particularly like that type of music is wrong. Reviews are submitted as an over-all, instead of individual merits.
I think you should review on
1. A technical level. eg sound quality, eq, compression etc
2. Originality. eg. Have you heard this or something similar before somewhere?
3. Structure/ arrangement. Does the song flow and keep the listener interested?
Marks out of ten for each category will then trigger a more precise score. 1 - 30.

how about adding a reviewer of month , based on a number reviewed songs or a word count during the month? same as the artist ,he/she would get an interview, promotion and thus be more motivated to give more feedback.
sorry for my english but i am not understend what i am writing |

How about no review?
Weird concept, but I feel it's difficult to write reviews. So here's the thing.
As with the 1 to 10 markers on the overall song, could we have that applied to different categories.
So, you can hear a song and then tick boxes.
1 to 10 for Structure. Originality, arrangement, sound quality, mixing, mastering, composition, sounds used etc.
If we only had to tick a few boxes everytime we heard a track, I think everyone would get some feedback about their tune from everyone who downloaded it. And make it compulsory. If you don't tick the boxes, you get stopped from downloading another track.
Reviews can still be added as an option. |

Personally I think the reviewing policy is the least of concerns for CTG right now.
Change is needed on an overall scale - the place is quite literally dead

Then why doesn't anything change?
Because CTG has been dead for ages.
When's the funeral?
What kind of mentality is THAT, eh? The reviewing policy has been
a major issue before, that doesn't mean it's losing its importance
because this place is more stagnated than Siberia. I'm sure it is
not a lack of interest or even boredom, but a lack in resources.
Personally, I will keep nagging until the review system is updated.
Now let's all agree again and do nothing
