Everyone is saying something else
to get good results quick, I'd recommend FL Studio
easy to use, versatile, and no programming like tracking based programs (sorry guys)

I'd just go for FL studio, really
Howdie!

I recommend Nuendo.
With Its VST Instrument, you can make a track as good as pro one.

FL Studio for life!
Its got so many sounds, so much variety, that you can produce pretty much any style you set your mind to!

My personal opinion is that you should start with an audio and midi sequencer right from the beginning. Its not as hard as people say imo. Its quite logic.. Of course, learning anything takes time, hard work and sometimes frustration. But if you are gonna produce music for the rest of your life, or for quite some time. I can only say that its better to start with a program with little limitations. imo. imo.

I use Renoise almost exclusively now... as it kicks royal toosh.... but it might be a bit hard to get into for someone who's got no tracker experience.

I agree. FL-studio is a generally simple program. I think you should start with a simple program like FL so you have a hum on what you're doin.
Or get Reason, its one of the best programs out there I think. I've never had any problems with Reason. It's easy to do something that sounds great, and the drums sounds really good.

well, my advise is to get everything you like.. Although I personally wouldn't go for reason... But FL, cubase, logic.. Its all good :)
My first song in Cubase. (323 hits) Download and comment please :)

The answer is simple go the bookstore buy Computer Music magazine and read all those helpful tutorials that will answer most of your questions. You can even download tutorials from their website for absolute beginners here first for absolute beginners and then more advance tutorials

I use the king of experimental music Ableton Live 6. But I tried most of the software out there including trackers. You should do the same. It all has to do with how you think , the way you think dictates which software you would like to use.

if you want any help email me!!! thekilon@yahoo.co.uk

Making music with Ableton? Dude, how do you put together your sounds?
I use it for gigs and it's the only way I can make use of it, actually.. very
curious about your take on the program!

computer music magazine comes with a daw called muzys and quite a few free plugins. as its only the cost of the magazine its a pretty good way of learning before taking the plunge and getting one of the big name daws.
also, check out zebracm on the latest version of computer music. its easily the best free synth ive ever used, by a long long way.
