Title: Bubble Bobble Revolution
Platform: Nintendo DS
Rating (out of five):
Comment: The best game ever came to DS. Codemasters did 2 versions on the ROM, the 'Revolution' game, and the classic. The revolution game is terrible, and badly uses the DS's technology, with the game difficulty becoming too hard after like 2 levels. However, you'd think with having the original game on the ROM, it would make up for the crappy new game? Well no, it doesn't! as you get to level 30, there's a frikken bug in the game where the end boss is 'invisible' and you can't beat the level and progress! Sucks, furthermore, its a known bug with the game, yet it's still on sale, and if you buy it, once opened, it can't be returned. Bullshit.

Title: Lego Starwars II: The Original Trilogy
Platform: PC, Xbox, 360, PS2, Gamecube, DS, Advance
Rating (out of five): *****
Comment: Me and Jenn have got into this big time in the past few days. The gameplay is awesome, funny, and most of all fun to play!!! |
It also rocks on Xbox, especially when the guard-type thingies start hammering away on their hammers to the vader metal riff thingie

Half-Life Series - *****
Fantastic series. Great driving plots that keep you wanting to know what's next, real characters, immersive gameplay, and fabulous graphics keep me coming back. Can't wait for the next installment
Funniest take ever on a silent protagonest (Which is a story device I totally approve of, btw, I just think it's funny )
What a coincidence indeed.

Title: Final Fantasy 12
Platform: PS2
Rating: 7/10
Comment:
This game in the series takes us back to Ivalice, the land where Final Fantasy Tactics was set in aswell.. however this game has virtually nothing in common with that game.. so don't expect a continuation of that series as I hoped this would be.
The story is .. well, kind of boring actually... it reminds me of history classes back in school when I would listen attentivly for ten minutes only to realize that what lied in store for the next 50 minutes of lesson time were more times, dates, names and actions which seemed pretty damned pointless to know about.
The battle system is fairly good, few people like the gambit system, which is a form of rudimentary PC AI you can set yourself, some hate it because it means that you can set your AI to "attack everything" and basically see your characters level by themselves without any input from you at all!
What really made me bored about this game is that it takes virtually FOREVER to accumulate any money in it, sure you can poach stuff off enemies and sell in stores, but honestly.. it's damned dull and only makes you realize that 50% of this game is about just hoarding items to sell for cash and to gain license points (a new variant of the sphere grid)
However, there is ONE thing that saves this game from being mediocre and that's the fact that you've got something called "hunts" which basically means that you hunt down extraordinary creatures that are elite versions of normal creatures.. and when I say "elite" I really mean 31337!

The Legend of Zelda - Twilight Princess
Only annoyance is having to go through the Skull Kid thing twice. At first I thought it was a bug. I love Midna.

Title: Warhawk
Platform: Playstation 3
Rating (out of five): *****
Comment: A highly entertaining game where you fight online against other playsers controlling a soldier that can use jeeps, tanks, planes and stationary artillery in addition to hand weapons. While the landscapes are few, the configurations are numerous, and the varied number of weapons to use combined with arcade-style ease of control makes for a game that lasts and lasts..
One of my alltime favourites.

What a horrible night to have a curse.

Title: The Secret of Monkey Island
Platform: PC (duh)
Rating: 5/5
Comments: What can I say about this game? That it's 100% immersive and interesting? That it's funny as hell? That it's considered a classic? Uh, yes, I could say that. Point is, I'm glad I played this. Everything's great: plot, characters, humour (who doesn't love the insult swordfighting?), yakkity blah. Even the graphics held up pretty well considering this was made in 1990 for the DOS.
Only possible gripe is that the SCUMM emulator I used is a bit broken and unresponsive when it comes to quitting and skipping over some bits.
"At least I've learned something out of all this... never spend more than 20 bucks on a computer game!"
The modern world is only endurable in small doses.

Comments: Everyone has probably played this already, but if you haven't you need to. The puzzles and the humour are outstanding. |
