| Hello, my recent project was to record and mix a death metal song, and I have no clue how to do with the vocals. I've got an Growler to do the vocals, and my question is if anyone have done this before? I need some tips, mostly in dubbings and compressions and so on. |

You need firstly to be alone (many guys around us don't understand the powa of true satanic art (j/k))
Then... About growling, you just must be "away" from the mic cause it causes many saturation thingie. When you managed to get the volume in good things, don't add too much bass on the growls. Add maybe a sliced little chorus to make the sound a bit "stereo and spread", a VERY LITTLE reverb can be good, and some EQ to make them front of the song. But still, it depends if its growls or screams too.
Still... XnmE is TEH MAN for metal growls/screams. Tho i've been recently put as a "singer" for a belgian metal band, i'll let you know when its about mixing the vocals...

also, I am no expert in metal vocals, but generally they get compressed to hell becouse human voice has a huge dynamic range (whisper to scream)
Review the unreviewed reviewers??? |

Well, maybe avoid compression in a studio environment, but for live stuff go ahead and go to town with it (Since the singer bounces to and from the mic, turns his head, all kinds of things that affect the volume)
What a coincidence indeed.
