Today I opened cubase while the little mp3 player of myspace.com was still playing. Due to some horrid reason cubase simply thought that, it was the first time I've ever open cubase while using ASIO, and suddenly it started to look for a correct setting without errors. However, all settings had a serious latency problem, and suddenly cubase couldnt be played without latency.  Now I've always had the problem that cubase couldnt change the samplerate, and all of this DID make sure that I can change the samplerate now...
Anyway, I thought it was a problem that cubase didnt recognise my ASIO driver, so I reinstalled cubase. That didn't work however, so I reinstalled my ASIO drivers.
The good news of that is that everything now works as it should. My ASIO drivers are accepted bij Cubase SX3, and it plays without latency.
However, when I play a sound in cubase, it gives a little chip noize, like from the old SID-chip, and the noize is completely sync with the beat. I've got no idea how this weird noize comes, and even when cubase plays a part of the song that's completely blank on midi, it still gives this weird noise. How can I get rid of it?
All my other stuff that I use to play music don't have any problems..
My soundcard: M-audio Audiophile 2498.

sounds like youve got the click track on. can turn it off in the transport bar. |

ah, well, the now plays without latency, as it should, but when I play my midikeyboard I still have a shitload of latency.. any idea's on how to change this?

There are several options:
1. Make sure you've got he latest ASIO driver (either from M-Audio or ASIO4ALL)
2. Adjust the DMA buffer size (latency samples - the lower the number of samples the lower the latency) using the M-Audio control panel.
3. Adjust the latency (and maybe choose another ASIO driver) using Cubase menu: Devices ---> Device setup ---> VST audiobay.

I'm completely new to this, that's the most frustrating thing. I'm new to cubase, and new to midi keyboards (and thefor latency). I've already tried the first 2 option though, and as soon as I'm home I'll try the third option. Thanks so far anyway

| Take the M-audio asio driver... the multimedia asio that comes with cubase isn't nearly as good. The m-audio drivers should at least be able to grant you less than 10ms. I got 5ms here myself. 20ms is considered the max for most people, this is near the point where you start noticing the latency becoming a problem. |
