I recently bought a pair of 2x1gb gskill ddr400 2.5-3-3-6 dual channel memory from newegg, which i planned on adding to my 2x512mb corsair 4-4-4-12 twinx dual channel memory (ddr400), which i bought a long time ago. However, they wont work when they are both put in at the same time. I have the ram oriented correctly, and i tried swapping out different positions but did not help the situation, as the old ram caused my computer to not boot with the new ram placed in.
Does anyone know the reason for this? Is there any way around this? or will they simply not be compatible?
I'm running a DFI lan party amd 939 mobo with a 3500+ and now, 2 gigs of ram (which i hoped to be 3, but w/e). |

You should only use ram with the same latency... 2.5-3-3-6 is not equal to 4-4-4-12.
Also check your mainboard specifications for compatibility issues with RAM. That's a must. You should have done that even before buying the RAM. Guess how much money I lost by not having done that? And yes, I bought the DDR2-667, exactly what my mainboard needed, but it just wouldn't work.
