Sometimes I put my hand under my armpit and squeeze to make a sound... does that count?

That is what I call a "hands on" approach to making sounds
my approach is to make people ungry they ussually make all sort of noises, which can be very cool for sound effects

I occasionally use SuperCollider 3. It's a programming language that allows you to add on LFO's and Oscillators to a simple sine/pulse/square wave. It's fun, but somewhat tedious to learn.
You know of any other sound generators?

If you want to do it from scratch like that, there's always Csound and MAX/MSP. But the easiest way (and most intuitive if you ask me) is to get a ready-made synth with a nice interface, unless you've got very specific needs in your sound makings.
Just look for the ones with the synthesis method(s) and features that you need. Hard to recommend specific ones.
What a horrible night to have a curse.

Well, if you record it, I guess that is a synth................ |

A friend of mine on one of his tracks that got released recorded most of the percussion from his mouth though a wooden tube into a condenser mic. Obviously it needed a sampled kick and perhaps a snare to support it but it sounded awesome.
a lot of the tunes i make use glitched up vocals from my mouth or from other sound sources.
An artist called Frivolous from montreal who i had playing at my club night always uses what he calls "found sounds". which is just shit recorded from absolutely anything around him, glitched up and turned into percussion and stuff. when you do things like this you get very unique sounding tracks.
i guess this only works well with a certain style of track. You find this sort of thing on a lot of minimal/ microhouse. |
