Well i really do think that the best thing to do is probably 'save new version' after a shady edit or substantial addition which could potentially crash fruity

I try to save as new version everytime the track sounds different while sounding good to me, makes loads of files of course, but saves the need for psyceatric care when the track fucks up.

'An error occured while reading the FLP file. It may be corrupted or some plugin caused an error while opening.'

you can try this new recovery tool for corrupted flp files
(better works than the diagnostic tool for fruityloops):

http://forum.image-line.com/viewtopic.php?t=15396

p.s.
for additional recovery tips (if the file contains also a broken "FLdt" (data..) parts
read the "readme.txt" in the zip files (you can recover the unbroken scores automations ecc...)

hope this help

This is exactly the practice I follow all these years. I save each step of my progress (adding in the file name V1 , v2 , v3 , v4 for version 1 ,2 ,3 ,4 etc. )and this also makes a history of the changes that I have made thus making it is easier to go back and change the direction of the song. I have lost some songs as well this way but I learned from my mistakes and now I save everything .

By the way what you think about the new FRUITY LOOPS 8?

It amazes me how much FL evolved since the version I used (3.3) . They have added alot of horsepower!!!

By the way, i solved the problem a few months ago! A simple defragmentation is all it took. Afterwards, when i tried opening the file in question, it actually opened allright. Only problem - i didnt feel like finishing the track anymore :wall:
