I have recently come across tons of drum loops and I have to say I dont feel right about using them. It seems to me that this is "cheating" a little bit.
Am I just too old school ? Are drum loops acceptable by the community or do other people share my view as well ? |

Last time I used drum loops was when I was producing with eJay. And even in eJay I started using the "Drum Roll". The major reason for me is that they never really match what I have in mind with my tracks and also I think it's a lot of fun to play around with the percussions (maybe that's just b/c I used to play the drums myself). If you feel bad about using them I would just "rebuild" them with maybe some changes so it all blends in with your song.

I don't think you are. If I make a song, then I wanna make it really *my* song. I'm generally against using any loops... of course I'm never gonna bitch you if you do that, it's just about my own attitude to making music. |

Actually i use drumloops quite often, the thing is that you have to tweak it a bit too fit it in your track. I think that if youre using a loop WITHOUT modifying it then it is kinda... cheating. BUT, if you mess with it and change its layout and add other [not loop] stuff to support it, then, its not different then using any wav samples
