Hey Folks!!!

It seems my mixed set has been deemed eligible for "Crystal Clouds Anuual DJ Contest." Crystal Clouds hosts some of the worlds best upcoming DJ's
and I would love to get a spot in there......the winner would gain slots on different music shows and also promotion on "Diverted Recordings" for 6 months!!

But before I continue....a little about me. I was borned and raised in the middle east, a city called Dubai located in the United Arab Emirates. Right now I'm pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree up in Canada and should graduate pretty soon :-) I would of graduated earlier but I opted to get some engineering experience in Alberta. However, music has always been one of my greatest passions eversince I was a kid (some may beg to differ I still am). As a kid my personal favourite artists were Angelo Badalamenti, Jean Michel Jarre, Kurt D. Cobain and ofcourse Michael Jackson. Later down the road I was confronted with different genres of electronic dance music which lead to the greatest change in my music taste. It was basically DJ's/Producers such as Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren. I played drums for six years for different bands before I moved to Canada and started DJ'ing since January 2006. My genre happens to lie somewhere in between Melodic Progressive Dance and Trance music. I personally believe music has the ability to take one to different levels of sub-consciousness.....(spiritually & mentally). Right now I'm mainly up for an engineering career....DJ'ing and mixing music is just a side hobby amongst others. Later on?
I simply don't know.

Now to the competiton....the rules are simple. There were 35 eligible contestants from different parts of the globe whose mixed sets were uploaded and accepted. I was one of those 35. Each one is up for public vote and the top 10 will then
proceed to the next round which entails scrutiny by the Judges. I really doubt it if I'll win :-( Qualifying for the competition was honourable enough for a person whose still pretty new and has very little of an entourage such as myself.
Might I add most of the DJ's I'm up against have a HUGE following too. The only reason I entered was to see where I stand amongst them. But then again, it would be great if I make it to the second round only!!

These were the rules I had to abide by.........(according to their website)

MULTIPLE ENTRIES ARE NOT ALLOWED.

Mix length must be between 70 and 80 minutes, no more and no less. Failure to comply will see instant disqualification.

The Mix must be recorded in a decent quality 192kbps MP3 only format. WMA is not acceptable this time round.

Material used in the mixes must be publically available. This means it is either for sale on any established record store OR available as a free download directly from the artist themself. This means you cannot play your own material or friends material unless it is publically available to others. Crystal Clouds has the final say on the legitimacy of any material used in the mixes.

The mix must also not have been broadcast on public airwaves before. This is to stop lazy entrants. If you don't have the time to make a mix for this contest, then you might not have the time to be part of Crystal Clouds!

The final deadline is on the 27th of June 2007. No specific time, just so long as its submitted on that day according to your local timezone.

And now the the rules of round one...............(according to their website)

1. One vote per IP Address only.
2. One vote per PC only.
3. One vote per User only.
4. The vote must be deemed legitimate by Crystal Clouds.

Vote Deadline: July 21st, 2007

We will be recording a variety of information when you vote to ensure that the Public Vote is as fair as possible, without comprimising the integrity of the contest.

We don't expect every user who votes to download every mix as this is just as impossible as the fact we can't expect judges to. But try and download the mixes which would normally wet your tastes! (tracklists are viewable before download) Picking a favourite from them will allow Crystal Clouds to choose the best DJ to join its rank, which in turn gives you some more fantastic music!

You will be able to vote on mixes and leave feedback as you can with all Crystal Clouds sets, so please do this and help the DJ Contest entrants out too!

However we don't expect users to just vote on something because they feel like it or are "phished" into doing so in this modern age of the web.

Entrants to the DJ Contest cannot vote from their own IP address, computer or user account.

Entrants are allowed to advertise the fact that people can vote for them in the contest via websites, social networking pages (etc) however it must be done in a legitimate way. IE no automatic scripts or similar phishing attempts.

So if you guys wanna get involved (I mean it's great dance music to complement your work-out at the gym and totally for free) then proceed as follows.........

1) Goto www.crystalclouds.com and register yourself (No charges accrued)

2) Login and goto http://www.crystalclouds.com/forum/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=109&min=20&orderby=dateD&show=20#cat and scroll down until you come across the following link "CC DJ Contest 2007 : DJ Salman [30-Jun-07] [ Download Now ]"

3) If the mix was worth your time then please login once again and goto http://www.crystalclouds.com/forum/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=3024 and cast in your vote.

Feel free to listen and rate or vote for other mixes if you don't like mine and don't hesitate to forward this to anyone who might be interested!!
