5 seconds of sound means not a 5 seconds of composing but just a sound as a "beeeep" for example, right?

If you want to make an entry consisting of a one single beeeep, then go ahead. And if you're brave enough, you could play two beeps at the same time!
So no, you can use more than just a beep in the sound. A "5 second audio" could be a bit clearer term in the rules?

Oh boy. Guys, don't make things go complex. Send me any audio material which is not more than 5 seconds long. I called it a sound because you can hardly consider something that lasts 5 seconds a tune.
CM, thx, got it! ))

Probably too late for me to do an entry, but not too late for me to spout off...
5 seconds is MORE than enough time for a melody, albeit a short one. Two examples for those of us in the US of A: think of NBC's little 3-note "sonic logo." Almost anyone who hears it almost immediately thinks of NBC, and it's only 3 notes and can easily fit in 5 seconds or less. Or more recently, the McDonalds ads that feature that little "ba-da-bah-bah-bah!" vocal at the end... takes less than 3 seconds, but it's quite memorable. If I did it out loud right now, my girlfriend would probably ask me, "Why are you doing that McDonald's jingle? Are you hungry?"
Just because it's 5 seconds doesn't mean it can't have a melody.
But hey, I wrote the Novus Manifesto, so what the hell do I know? |

True... Well, I would actually insist on having a sound rather than a melody here... If you want, do the entry! The deadline is sort of there, but because the results wil be featured in a show which I am now in the process of making of, there is still time.
(yeah, that compo wasn't good, in the middle of it CTG went down)
