After seeing the torrents are the future votes I wonder... would you not support your own musical career?

i can't understand those votes... :wall:
Music changes hearts and minds. It goes where words cannot always get to.

I download albums on p2p, or torrents, or whatever - if I dont like it, I delete it. If it's good stuff that I *really* enjoy, I go and buy the CD.

Yes I would, I would be one of the few to appreciate the music, which makes
great conversation material at parties, not to mention an instant social environment
to manifest and further develop my character in. That, and I make the music I make
because it sounds like something I would own a dancefloor with. There is a big, fat
piece of arrogance involved here, because I'm convinced that my music rocks cock
and this alone is all the reason I need to buy my own music, not downloading it, but
actually taking the time to order a cd or vinyl from the other end of the globe, just
to support the hard labour put into it by a poor, underground musician, who never
ever will be on radio, tv or populating the media. I simply love my music, which is
(again) why I make it.

Wow. I never realised what a self-absorbed prick I am. :D

I'd buy my music on vinyl. Just because of the vinyl itself, not necessarily for the music. :)

I would buy your music on vinyl and cd alike. Interesting statement in your earlier post, even more because I cannot imagine you wouldn't buy your own stuff, even
if it's so intensely 'DFAST', my guess is that you would recognize the uniqueness of
the sound and love it for that AND the music. I think this goes for a lot of people with
the same 'dilemma'. We cannot listen to our music without feeling attached, in a
positive or negative way.

How ironic that the actual maker is unable to objectively judge his creations.
I wonder what God would do...

Sure it's hard to judge your own music from a commercial point of view,
but I also believe that the majority of artists make the music they do because
they believe in it. Consider this: when you buy music, there has been made a
serious attempt at mastering the sound. If you would buy your own music, it
would sound professionally mastered, so maybe we're all a bit biased in our
opiniond, because we listen too much to our SOUND, not our MUSIC.

Think I would actually buy my own music if it was somewhat easy to get your hands on.

Been thinking about this all morning, and well, I've come to the conclusion, that I would not buy my own music. My reason? It's not what I would normally listen to - perhaps its time I changed my style then? heh. But seriously, thats why I wouldn't buy it.

Lets hear you reasons for/against, etc :)

Any decent self respecting record label would grant you a (few) hardcopies (cd/vinyl/etc) of your own release. So the answer would be no. I wouldn't buy my own music, unless the label won't give me a copy as a favour.

My output is horribly inconsistent so... I'd only buy it if the price was 1 eurocent. Or 1 leu. Whatever. Otherwise, torrent. :D

Bill Hicks: I was in Nashville, TN, last year. After the show, I went to a waffle house (...) and I'm alone, I'm eatin', I'm readin' a book, right? Waitress walks over to me... "Hi! Whatcha readin' for?".

Isn't that like the weirdest fucking question you've ever heard? Not what am I reading, but what'm I reading for.

Well, goddammit, ya stumped me. Why do I read? Hmm... I guess I read for a lot of reasons, and the main one is so I don't end up being a fucking waffle waitress!

I would definitely listen to my music if it wasn't me who made it, but I wouldn't buy it because I don't buy music... So..

Torrents ftw.
