| Bought a laptotp today, Acer 7520, installed reason and asio4all wich was a mistake. Now that f***ing machine wont work, I dont have restore points and booting doesnt work.... |

They've just admitted vista is utter crap.

really?, i doubt that bill gates says "vista is a real crap!" though he seriously thinks so..hehe
btw.. vista is the worst OS that i've used, so.. xp is better though i think its lack of security is its main drawback..
right now i'm on mac and i haven't complaints, at all.

Microsoft did by making a free downgrade to xp available for those with vista. (happened few days ago)

I prefer Vista to XP.  Only slight problem is that some manufacturers (Nvidia and Creative in my case) have been slow to develop good drivers. It's getting there tho.
I'm sure you took the time to create the backup discs (unless Acer are kind enough to provide them ready-made (or even a *real* installation disc!)), so it's not all lost is it? |

XP SP3 is coming out in early 2008, so bye bye security issues, and welcome vista's new newtorking features in XP. So mate, all the way, downgrade to XP.
I have a vista Business license, but i'm still using XP for everything.

Vista is so full of bugs and user restrictions, that it's no wonder nobody wants to use it. Add to that a poor platform for gaming (yes, gaming IS slower on Vista when compared to XP) and an even poorer platform for unusual/old applications, and you have a recipie for disaster.
I tried Vista for two weeks and I absolutely HATED the way it was trying to tell me how to do things, especially since I have +4 years of computer studies behind me.
And the added "security" .. please, don't make me laugh anymore than I already am

XP still is the same crap!  . But at least developers found ways to make their programs work right on it!.
I hate vista.... the permissions b/s gets all over my last nerve - are you sure? are you really sure? fries with that? blah?
