XP still is the same crap!  . But at least developers found ways to make their programs work right on it!.
I hate vista.... the permissions b/s gets all over my last nerve - are you sure? are you really sure? fries with that? blah?

Nah, I wont downgrade in any way.
Still alive btw, currently writing this in a lounge of a hotel in Whitewater, Wisconsin. Everything works on laptop after I managed to uninstall asio4all. |

Vista makes for a lot of frustration and internet searches to get it to do what you want it to do. But I like it better compared to XP when XP was released. I never used XP much cause of some major issues up until SP2. Never ran SP2 though, so can't speak for that one.. Seems most people like it, but I sticked around with Win2k SP4 till Vista came. Now it was time to upgrade, as working with Win2k had become troublesome in my case. And I'm quite happy I upgraded back in May 2007.
Right now I'd like to stick with Vista. Learning all its troubles and workarounds, just as I did with win2k from SP2 and onward. And when the Service Packs come, it'll improve like all previous windows. No doubt about it. Just have to go trough some hard times 
Right now I'm actually quite happy with the way Vista already runs on my machine. Some little issues with E-mu vista beta drivers over here, but those'll be gone soon. In fact we've completed 80% of the EE album on Vista and it was only troublesome in the very beginning when we had XP drivers for E-mu instead of the Vista beta that only came late in July. After that it has been much better.
Took some tweaking of course to get the system there, but it will only get better from here on I suppose

Microsoft is so surrounded by lawyers who are ready to sue it if it doesn't implement this or that... that we get something like Vista - overprotected thing. Because someone deletes their files by accident and sues the developers or something... Nah. What good does the mass market do to the company?

| if i had XP, i'd be worried for BSOD during producing , let's be hosnest , Microsoft has fixed those issues that appeared to be problem in XP (For Example , my new computer) what means , XP Suxx with big & Blurry whistle |

i still use xp for gaming and make sure that the web content that i create works in both OS (mac/win) and some little apps too. XP worked pretty well for me though the interface isn't pretty cool so i use some skins to do it more pleasant. So, actually the reason because i changed my default OS is that the plugins that i use sound much better on OS X so now i can get that sound more easily, to name a example i don't know how sound reason 4 but reason 3 definitely sound better on os x than xp.
