The new iMac is great!

But then again it's all about OS X. If you've never used a Mac before, there will be an adjusting period for you, until you get the hang of a new operating system.

But that being said, FL Studio, Reason, Wave Editor (Soundforge equivalent), Logic and all the tools one uses in Windows work even better on a Mac.

edit: And then again, if you don't wanna go with desktops, the 15" or 17" Macbook Pros are awesome for music and better than same config Windows desktops/laptops!

There's this saying in romanian, don't know if there's one in English, but I'll translate anyways:

Pay a buck, sit in front!

The new iMAC is the cheapest model in the market for what it offers ,right now.

Mine costs 1270 Euros and is an iMAC Core 2 Duo 2 ghz , 1GB RAM, 128 MB ATI , 250 GB HD

The machine is absolutely fantastic, it explains why MAC users are so emotionaly attached with their machines.

However the new iMAC has reported several problems of crashing mainly because of the very faulty ATI Drivers. I have experienced several crashes myself , with my iMAC , one of them has been resolved with the new 1.1 Software Update. But overall these crashes do not affect music making there are centered around video and graphics programms, and they are pretty consistent so the easy solution is not to use the buggy feature which creates the crash.

For example an avi crashed my iMAC once using the Front Row , but I managed to watched it with the freeware video player VLC with no problem. It sad though that Apple did not test the machines properly before they released them. It is sad from a company that claims absolute stability.

But overall is an amazng machine , the OS is brilliant and the third party programms are very well made. I found alot of freeware as well and I am impressed most of it top quality (something I cannot claim for pc freeware) .

If APPLE manages to relase a proper driver update for the ATI GRAPHICS CARD to end all crashes this is going to be propably the best computer of all time after AMIGA 500 of course .

I have to point that I have not experienced any crashes with Digital Performer , Logic 8, REASON, and other music programms in my iMAC.

Haha! Yeah, right. Tell me about FL Studio! On their site it clearly says that FL Studio doesn't run on Macs. That's the main reason why I decided against getting a Mac. Macs are great until you face the absence of programms for them.

Here you go pal! :D

Nowadays Macs have the hardware to run Windows too, and if I may say so myself, it runs better than on a regular PC, I'm using Windows XP for a couple of games (like Oblivion, Bioshock and other demanding games) on my Macbook Pro :D

oZo: Great choice! Remember to spam us with photos and such when you get it :P

edit: Louigi, did you catch the FL Studio website description on Google?

FL Studio is a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) for Windows PCs (or Intel Mac/ Bootcamp). With a full feature-set and aggressive pricing (inc. lifetime free ...
