Wow, a debate for a while!! Good good....
Now few lines up from previous two pages:
Coder does the job with very low salary, but not free. Donations are for that. If we start to host files, like tracks, videos, pictures..., I will take care of that. Already have 50 gb storage with 1TB transfer/month bought for 3 years so we use that for a start. But maintaining/bug fixing and developing needs coder wich means money. I cant code a shit and I use available options. There ain't many of them since I dont have time to hang on net like used to have....
And I can GUARANTEE you guys that the enthusiasm is there, with coder |

If the dev's send me an estimation of the HD space and bandwidth requirements that file uploading would require, I'm willing to handle that. Arrangements regarding the fees, etc. can be made.

I see m0d disagree with paying, that is fine.. But I disagree with your reasoning. What we pay for is a new look, possibly server space and so on. If people donate that is. We dont pay to one persons own wallet.. And as I find the admins and mods here to be pretty decent people, as far as im concerned at this point, I doubt they would do anything sketchy
But yeah, its up to each and his own to decide I suppose. I would not mind paying at all - ti *this* site.

OK... Here's an idea. The people I host with (Siteground, fwiw) have fantastic deals on bandwidth and space. Perhaps not so much on access. So what's wrong with having two hosts? One that's nicely configurable to make m0d happy and one that just sits there and serves files? That at least would allow people to upload their tracks to ctg.

This is indeed a good idea. There are many host services which offer good bandwidth and space, others are better at other Stuff. having a separate file server is a decision which many web developers, including those doing large projects, go for.

I would contribute most definitely.
most likely to hosting capabilities directly on CTG servers.
but on the strict conditions and some much needed organization.
Actually, I just got 500gb of storage space.
I would highly consider hosting a Canadian server.
hmm if I only had a good ISP though.
but no, with some thought this could work.
I was born in MadTracker.
